Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, we watched a movie in class. Afterwards, the professor asked us what we thought. I raised my hand and said it was pretentious, dull and a really poor example of filmmaking. It was the movie HE spent five years writing and directing. FML
Today, I "answered" an email instead of "forwarding" it. As a result, there is a chance that my Master's thesis supervisor gets a message from me starting by the F-word, and complaining about my bad work and inability to understand a deadline. FML
Today, my dad insisted on having a family movie night. He chose the movies Jaws and Mayday. I'm going on a diving expedition tomorrow. FML
Today, I asked my professor for his opinion on the subject I plan to study in my thesis. Turns out, he likes it so much that he's going to steal it from me. FML
Today, I held a presentation about my masters thesis. Turns out, my professor never ever actually read the drafts I'd given him, but decided to rip me to pieces in front of everyone, saying that the topic isn't worth researching. I've been working on it for six months. FML
Today, for the nth time, my father reminded me that I should study things related to the "real" world, as if I was studying theology, astrology or something. I'm studying for a master's degree in physics. FML
Today, I finished my 83-page thesis for my Stanford class and put it on my desk. Then, as a prank, my girlfriend hid it. She forgot where she put it. The thesis is due in 3 days. FML
Today, I found out that my husband wasn’t at “work” like he said he was. He'd told me he couldn’t come to my Master degree graduation because he was called into “work” last minute. I guess “work” is code word for the “movie theatre” watching Spider-Man with an unidentified female person. FML
Today, my faculty mentor for my senior capstone project wasn't at my presentation for the entire department faculty. I assumed his wife or kids were sick, but that piece of shit told me himself that he was at home watching the new season of Stranger Things. FML
Today, if I was watching my life as a movie, I'd be thinking: "Come on, it is SO obvious that this will be a story about some gods having a bet about how fast they can get this woman to kill herself, and whether big things like health problems work best, or rather constant small annoyances." FML

I'm not quite sure that's an FML. I wish there was a "So what?" button right about now. Oh, and of course...first.

...and? but anyway.. Tom Hanks was awesome in that movie, you should be excited about being compared to him.

No joke. This is so dumb. I honestly don't get this FML at all. How the hell did this get past moderation? **** all of you moderators.

Why don't you moderate the FMLs yourself?

I do. Quite frequently actually. I pressed the magic "no" button for this one.

I really don't get it. you're teacher said you were a waste of 2 hours and 45 minutes? or that your thesis was? and, against all odds, you actually got somewhere with it? you fail.

Are you trying to say that you think you have too much work to do? Sorry, that doesn't get my sympathy. Want a diploma? Earn it, don't complain that it'll cost ya.

That's because your graduate adviser is probably sick and tired of grad students bitching about all the work they have to do. Who told you grad school was all fun and games? And if you had been working on it steadily, you wouldn't have a ton of work in the few months before you're supposed to hand it in.

The adviser is saying that you sat around and did nothing for years, and now you have to do everything in the last few days.

I think what the advisor was REALLY saying is that is looks like the fellow would prefer to talk to a volleyball with a bloody handprint on it than actually do something productive. Get a life and some REAL friends and more importantly, do your god damn work.
