Today, in front of the entire family, I yelled at my mom and told her she wasn't a good parent. She responded with, "Well, at least I had friends when I was your age." FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, my mother looked me dead in the face and said, "I have failed as a parent." FML
Today, I was in the car with my mom. We were discussing my brother, how he's been screwing up majorly lately and she blamed it on his friends. Then she turned to me and said, "It's a good thing you've never had any friends." FML
Today, my mom tried to give me a pep talk to boost my self confidence. Somehow, it ended up turning into a conversation about how much of a loser I am and how I have no friends. FML
My life
Today, my mom got drunk and started crying, ranting about all the things she could have done in life if I hadn't been born. FML
Today, my mom bitched me out in front of my friends because I had my first kiss at "such a young age". She's 15 years older than me. FML
Today, it's my 18th birthday. I was telling my friends a story when my mom started talking. I simply said 'Mom...' so she'd realize she interrupted me. She gave me the finger and called me rude in front of all my friends. FML
Today, my mom said that if I wasn't her daughter, she probably wouldn't even like me. FML
Grammie!
Today, after having spent years staying in school, working hard to achieve good grades, and avoiding all the bad kids, my mom accused me of having no direction in life and complained about how I haven't given her a grandchild yet. I'm 19. FML
Today, my mom was screaming at me and said, "I wish I'd never adopted you." I guess I'm adopted then. FML
Isn't it ironic, don't you think?
Today, my mom complained that I was being too loud, and she smacked my head really hard. All while screaming at me. FML

Uh... maybe that's the kind of comment you want to make to your mom when you are alone with her instead of airing dirty laundry like that in front of the whole family? You deserved that one.

People blame their parents for being bad parents but the question is, how great of a child are you?

The OP is my hero. There is NO SUCH THING as a good parent because there is no such thing as a selfless person. In fact, to have a child is the single most selfish thing you can do. Who the **** gave you the authority to shape and control another human being's life? Who said it was ok to inflict all the pain and suffering encountered in life on another person? And why the **** is it ok to stroke your own goddamned ego like this? Do you honestly think that your children wouldn't have been just as well-off if they hadn't been born? Do you think their mass of undeveloped cells would have given a flying ****? Yes, parents are only human, which is why they shouldn't be put in charge of raising another person. At all. Ever. The OP's selfish **** rag of a mother deserved to be hurt like that, no matter how "good" of a parent she was.

Dont dish out what you cant take... Yeah, ill agree, it was a bit mean for the OP's mom to call him/her a loner but the OP still shouldnt of called the mom a bad parent. What has the mom done for the OP? A lot. What has the OP done for their mom? Probably nothing! Its pretty upseting for a mom to have their OWN CHILD call them a bad parent! YDI 101%!

I'm getting kind of annoyed at the people and mom's on here saying that the OP deserved it and the mom is innocent. You have no idea what the mom is like, maybe she is a terrible parent, we don't know. Judging by her remark, she sounds kind of superficial and petty. She would rather be popular than a good mother. If I said something like that to my mom, she wouldn't say "at least I had friends when I was your age" she would say "how dare you say that to me?" and I agree, the OP should not have said that in front of the entire family. But if it were true, than I think it was good that she said that. Not all moms are caring and kind and love their children. That's why there's a little something we call "child abuse". So stop accusing the OP and telling him to "give his mom a hug and a kiss, apologize, and tell her how much you love her." Maybe the mom should do that too. Both comments were out of line, but the OP's comment was not petty, superficial and immature. Just one side of the argument.

I agree with #4. OP shouldn't be such an immature brat and try to embarrass her mom, but since she did she need to be willing to accept what comes back to her. Did she expect her mom to be a door mat?
