Today, I woke up screaming. Why? Well, I was complaining to my dad yesterday about how I always hit the snooze button and just roll over when my alarm goes off, and how that results in me being late for morning classes. My dad thought he'd help out by placing a mousetrap on the snooze button. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Kill it with fire
Today, my dad reactivated a digital clock we had lying around, and accidentally set an alarm on it. For 1 a.m.. So guess who went hunting for that noise in the middle of night. And guess who banished the thing to the living room, then forgot about it, and slept on the sofa in said living room. Or tried to. FML
You're in the army now, oh ohoh
Today, my dad set the smoke alarm off at 6 a.m. as a "practice drill." I was woken up so suddenly, I fell out of bed into the bucket of sick I had been throwing up into the night before due to flu. Dad yelled at me for not getting out of the house in time. FML
Earplugs
Today, at around 12 a.m. I went to bed, happy that I get to sleep in because I had nowhere be in the morning. Sadly that came to an end when I woke up around 7 a.m. to my mom coming home and screaming because she saw a mouse. FML
Today, my dad thought it would be funny to wake me up by sprinkling catnip over me then dropping my cat on top of me. FML
Today, my mother surprised me with a new alarm clock. It's attached to a toy car which races around my room with obnoxious sirens going at full blast until I crawl out of bed and turn it off. She says this will be a regular thing. FML
Panic in the sheets
Today, I woke up to my disabled mother screaming for me. Fearing the worst, I hopped out of bed only to find that she was yelling because her cat had brought a field mouse inside as a gift. The problem? It was still alive. I had to get it from him and throw it outside. FML
Trashy
Today, after my dad insisted that the trash go out last night, even though I always take it out in the morning because of the stray dog problem in our neighborhood, I took it anyway to appease him. He woke me up banging on my door and screaming because the strays had thrown the trash all over the road in the night, and he blames me. FML
Today, my dad woke me up for the second time to get me ready for school. Wanting me to prove I was really awake, he made me sit up. As soon as he left my room, I dozed off and faceplanted my nightstand. FML
Today, my parents bought me an alarm clock that runs away from you while beeping obnoxiously when you hit snooze. I just had ankle surgery and am unable to walk. FML
Today, I was awoken by my dad yelling into my ear. In shock, I jumped up off the couch, and came smashing down into the coffee table. FML

Does your father write cartoon scripts?

I don't get how ANYBODY can say "You Deserve It" on this one. Seriously, that's not funny. He could've tried moving the clock or even breaking the snooze button, not breaking OP's fingers.

Maybe if he just got up in the morning instead of hitting the snooze button then he wouldn't have had to deal with "broken" fingers. So yes, he deserves it for being a lazy bum and not going to bed on time so that he can actually wake up earlier. And from the experience I've had with mouse traps, they don't actually break fingers, they just hold a certain amount of pressure that cause your fingers to go blue and you to feel a pain. As #33 said, rat traps can, not really mouse traps. That is probably why the dad used the mouse trap, because he knew it probably wouldn't break his bones.

So what if it doesn't break you're fingers. It can cause small fractures and still hurts like hell. Plus, OP might have hours of homework each night (like me) and is required to stay up late. There are so many better ways than inflicting pain on your kid to get them up. Like, maybe setting 2 alarms? Or moving the alarm clock across the room?

spare the rod, spoil the child ahahaha

He did help you out. But seriously most effective way is to place you alarm clock on the other end of the room. Yeah, it's cruel in the morning, but you never just hit it and sleep again. YDI for not coming up with some idea on yourself.

YDI for missing classes because you're being a lazy snooze button pressing bastard, on the other hand, FYL for being woken up in such a manner. Try going to bed earlier if its possible.

Your dad is awesome. I don't really see why everyone is saying that's cruel and horrible and shouldn't have happened. This is FML, and that was awesome. Picture this if you will; "Today, I woke up sad. Why? Well, I was complaining to my dad yesterday about how I always hit the snooze button and just roll over when my alarm goes off, and how that results in me being late for morning classes. My dad thought he'd help out by moving my alarm clock a few feet away. FML" Just no. Quit bitching. OP's dad is awesome, OP deserved it. QQ

So, you'd prefer somebody be in pain, so it makes a better internet story?

Well, at least now the OP gets a sense of how a mouse feels when it gets trapped? xD

#73, yes. Well done. That's the purpose of this site, to find humour (yes, with a u, I live in America, but I'm not from here so don't point that out) in lifes shitty little moments. In summary, if you don't find humour here and wish instead to feel the pain of the OP, maybe FML isn't the site for you. QQ

Hah, your dad got you good. Now you know not to press that button anymore.

I can't believe how many people are supporting the dad. Those things f*cking snap mouse necks & break people fingers. It's too cruel to be funny

Rat traps break fingers, mouse traps just hurt.
