Today, I went to a jeweler's to buy a ring to propose to my girlfriend. When I was at the restaurant, in mid-proposal, with people watching, I realized I had left the ring in the store. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I was shopping for rings with my fiancée. We spent over two hours selecting the perfect ring and diamond to match. When filling out the paperwork I discovered I left my wallet at home. She had to pay the 20% down payment for the ring. FML
Today, I proposed to the love of my life by having the waitress place the ring in her dessert. She ate the whole thing and didn't find the ring. I guess the waitress stole the ring. FML
Today, I found out my boyfriend was going to propose. He'd bought me a beautiful white gold ring that I never got to see. His estranged mom stole the ring. FML
Today, I was out with my boyfriend, when he started browsing wedding rings. He found a ring, proposed to me right there in front of a crowd, and then was promptly denied a payment plan. We left without a ring. FML
My precious
Today, in preparation for proposing to my girlfriend, I borrowed one of her rings so I could discreetly get her ring size. Not only have I now lost the ring, which turns out to be a keepsake from her dead grandmother, I still don't know her ring size. FML
Today, I was going to propose to my girlfriend. At the right moment, I got down on one knee. As I was reaching into my pocket to get the ring, she got so freaked out she kicked me in the face. I chipped a tooth and the ring flew off, and now I can't find it. FML
Today, I spent nearly an hour helping a customer pick out an engagement ring. I rang him up, picked out a super cute box for the ring, and wished him luck. Later I realized I never put the ring inside the box. FML
Sketchy move
Today, I went to see a hockey game. The announcer asked if anybody found a ring in the stands, because a girl lost hers. While he talked about it, I realised that I forgot mine in my pocket, so I took MY ring and put it on my finger. A guy saw me and thought I stole the lost one. FML
For better, for worse
Today, my boyfriend and I went shopping for an engagement ring. We ended up breaking up in the process. FML
Today, I was going to propose to my girlfriend. I had been hiding the ring in the sock drawer. When I went to retrieve it, the ring was gone and in its place was a sticky note that said "NO." FML

Have Charlie Brown, John Arbuckle & David Seville as your groomsmen at the wedding. Once you get passed the fact that they are cartoons, it's easy to see how you'd all compliment each other so well. And afterwards, people can console the bride for marrying such a godamn loser.

I agree with another poster - play it up a bit. Show her there's nothing in the box and get her to go to the same store you bought the ring in. Get her to pick one out (or get the salesman to play up the one you already bought so she takes it) and you're set.

I know that if I was about to propose, I would be checking my pocket ALL night to make sure I still had the ring. Yet you didn't check ONCE?

Dumba$$ - you sound like the kind of guy who goes to fill out a job application and then asks if you can borrow a pen. The Boy Scout motto - BE PREPARED!

You actually have to PAY for jewelry to be allowed to take it out of the store -- unless you are Lindsay Lohan, of course.

Splendid. I hate it when people propose to their partner in a public place: there is no privacy, no intimacy and especially a huge public pressure on the person who has to take a life-changing decision. If you want to give your partner the freedom of choice, please, propose at home or in a park, wherever you have some privacy. The only exception I make, is when the partner has made clear that he/she wants to marry. So, OP, I give you the benefit of the doubt and a YDI, only for forgetting the ring (oh, I hope you let her choose the ring in advance) at the shop. You sounds like the guy who forget his cash in the ATM-machine.

The fact most restaurants stick you in the corner if your proposing doesn't sound very romantic. The park with all the flowers blooming with little people around does sound nice though. Only thing he really did wrong though is forget to even buy the ring. He clearly was not focused when he went to get it.

at least you made the effort for a worthwhile proposal...all I got from my soon to be ex is "how would you feel if I told you I didn't want to be boyfriend and girlfriend anymore?" ask her to marry her and explain that you were so nervous you forgot the ring...if she loves you she will understand and maybe you can pick something together
afallingstar 22
that is ask her to marry YOU...I realized my typo after it posted
