Today, I was working in costume at a recreation of a Confederation-era town. I had to convince a visitor that it's not, in fact, an Amish village, and we do actually leave after five. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, one of my coworkers called to remind me about the annual costume day at work this morning. I dressed as Pocahontas. There is no annual costume day. I was fired for dressing inappropriately in front of customers. FML
Today, I went back to work after a vacation, only to find out I'll soon be forced to dress up as one of the princesses from Frozen to promote our store. FML
Guess who?
Today, I walked into our office and everyone started laughing. It turns out that I'd been the only one not in on the joke to come in dressed as a character from our favorite TV show. However, I'd dressed in normal work clothes. I’m the boss. FML
Olde timey reddish flagge
Today, I was all set to attend my first renaissance faire ever. I took forever customizing the perfect costume and I couldn’t wait. My boyfriend on the other hand was pissed that it was too revealing, so he left me standing at the front gate, refused to give me my ticket, and went in without me. FML
Quick thinking
Today, I showed up to a meeting without my pants and had to pretend it was part of my outfit. FML
Today, students were permitted to wear costumes at my school, but only about half of us did. In 4th period a guy asked me, "What are you supposed to be?" I wasn’t wearing a costume. FML
Nice disguise
Today, I had to walk through an extremely crowded pub wearing a dorky prisoner outfit to get to a dress-up party at the back. When we got there, I soon realised it wasn't fancy dress, but just black-and-white themed. FML
Today, at a science-fiction convention, a woman came up to me and told me that my white face paint was a mess, my contacts looked cheap, and my costume was an all-round failure. I wasn't wearing a costume, I'm an albino. FML
Coyness is nice, and coyness can stop you…
Today, I went to a friend's party, only to realize I was in the wrong apartment, after getting the address confused. Instead of awkwardly leaving, I stayed for a bit and pretended I was someone’s cousin. I was oddly suspicious that no one noticed me mingling, but then it turned out to be a shady MLM recruitment party for a leggings company. FML
Thank you for your service
Today, I was pretending to be a veteran for the US Navy at a local outlet, because I was desperate for cheap stuff. All was going well, until an actual vet pointed out that the ship I had on my naval hat was a fictitious one. Shit. FML

He deserved it for not being Amish.

Yeah see I mean you ******* pay to look at shit like that. You'd think the little insipid shit would get that a 'recreation' is, in-*******-fact, a recreation. Damn, people are dumb.

You damn confederates.
ktateprado 0
You don't look like Joan Jett. You look like a scary-ass puppet.

OP said Confederation, as in the Articles of Confederation, not Confederates. Normally I'd say something like "go retake US History" or another arrogant line like that, but its a common mistake, even I had to think a second. If you think about it, a recreation of 1780 America is more likely than a 1860 America, and more likely to look like an Amish Village.

I feel stupid. :D I fell on my head when I was a baby though so that explains.
airforce987 20
Don't worry about it, like I said, common mistake. The Confederacy is far more well known that the Confederation. I'm a history nerd, so I just happen to know about these things :)

My dad is a high school history teacher so I think I should know this lol.

Can some one explain this fml to me?
sxe_beast 11
-Recreation as defined: The action or process of creating something again -Confederation era was a time period in the late 18th century (like the 1780's) when the US Government was led by The Articles of Confederation. -A visitor believed that the historical reenactment wasn't an act. He/she believed that it was actually an Amish town. -Amish are Anabaptist (Protestants/Radical Reformation of 16th century). They live a simple life abstaining from the use of modern conveniences like electricity, automobiles, etc. There are 1-2 million of them spread out mostly in North Eastern US (Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, etc.) and Ontario of Canada. -The person didn't understand that this was their day job, but instead actually believed that this is their actual day-to-day life. They believe that they actually wear the plain old fashioned garb and have barn raises. The FML here is that the OP has a shitty job and has to often deal with morons.
dyble95 0
Thanks. :D makes sense now.
jedielf 23
The job might or might not be all THAT shitty, but I agree about the morons.
sxe_beast 11
Yeah, I think it may actually be a fun job. History is awshum! The bad thing would be having to put up with the morons.
ktateprado 0
Imam moron! I didn't read anything you wrote :D
Arch27 27
I want a job like that!

this FML reminds me of that old south park episode where the class takes a fieldtrip to an old-time themed village and cartman and butters escape to an arcade called super fun time. does anyone remember it?

At least you have a perfect second personality to assume if you need to go undercover.
perdix 31
What you failed to mention is that, while you dress in modern clothes after hours, you do still keep slaves at home. That's the secret to the aunthenticity of your work.
Mirorbo 27
It's amazing how stupid people can be...
