Today, one of my coworkers called to remind me about the annual costume day at work this morning. I dressed as Pocahontas. There is no annual costume day. I was fired for dressing inappropriately in front of customers. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I was shopping at my workplace, out of uniform, with my husband. A customer recognised me and wanted me to serve him, but I couldn't since we can be fired for doing so while off-duty. He complained to my manager, who wasted no time publicly bitching me out. FML
Guess who?
Today, I walked into our office and everyone started laughing. It turns out that I'd been the only one not in on the joke to come in dressed as a character from our favorite TV show. However, I'd dressed in normal work clothes. I’m the boss. FML
Today, my company had a Halloween party. I was so excited seeing as our company never does anything, so I pulled out all the stops with my costume. I was the only one who got dressed up. FML
Today, I was fired for being a very happy and perky employee. According to my boss, it freaks both the customers and my co-workers out. FML
But…
Today, I went to my retail job to buy some clothing. As soon as I walked through the doors, my manager yelled at me for not being in appropriate work clothes. I tried to explain that I was off the clock but he was having none of it. I got written up. FML
Customer relationships
Today, I assisted a customer at work. She was asking me all sorts of stupid questions and acting like an entitled, spoiled brat. When she left, since I had a mask on, I meant to mouth, "Stupid bitch" but I blurted it out loud. Everyone heard. I was fired. FML
Today, I went back to work after a vacation, only to find out I'll soon be forced to dress up as one of the princesses from Frozen to promote our store. FML
Today, I was kicked out of a job interview at a clothing store for "not dressing appropriately" for the occasion. I'd purchased my outfit from the same store just two days prior with my last $100. FML
Today, I told my supervisor how awful my coworker was at her job. I then got fired. FML
Today, I got fired from my job. I caught a customer taking pictures up my skirt, and my boss fired me for calling the police and "making a big deal out of it". FML

Thats funny. Don't worry. Karma will get them.

Nothing like good old superstition to get revenge eh? Then when something bad happens to them you'll naively think it was because of something they did to you.

yeah, it will be long, painful, and diserving!

76 - Why, revenge, of course! After all, it is a dish best served cold… Hopefully Di will remember to keep it refrigerated.

Who does that? I would hope that we haven't become so pessimistic as a society that we can't trust anybody.

Obviously we should be. This entire fml was about how they got fired for trusting their coworker. What, did you not even read the fml?? Had they called their boss to confirm they would still have a job. ydi

So you're saying, 87, that anytime anyone tells you something, you check to make sure it's accurate?

Comment moderated for rule-breaking.
Your co-worker wins. Can you even be mad? I don't know, I don't think I'd stay mad for long. We'd throw a beer or two back as we joked and laughed about how funny that was, then I'd get arrested for underage drinking. So I wouldn't be mad.

Maybe it was the part where.... she got fired. Unless you get off to that sort of thing.

OP got FIRED. Do you know how hard jobs are to come by now? I would be mad.

the "underage drinking" comment implies that he probably doesn't know what it's like to actually have to WORK to pay bills and put food on the table.

Yeeeeeeeeeeep. No money, just a poor, in-debt college kid with no job. :3

so, you don't have a brain to think things through and took what your coworker said all fir granted?you deserved this for being brainless..
ChibiChibi_fml 28
There are plenty of businesses that do have a costume day that falls around, if not on Halloween. It just depends on the business. If the OP had no problems with their coworker in the past they would have no reason to suspect that they were being lied to.
ImaginaryFoe 1
Anyone that doesn't find it at least a little suspicious that the costume was not mentiomed before by anyone else is, at best, naive.

I have to wonder if the costume would've been considered inappropriate anyway, even if the event had been real. Disney doesn't often dress their heroines modestly, and you should stilll consider the setting and your customer base when choosing a costume for a work-related event.

What do you mean Disney doesn't dress it's heroines modestly? I have a hard time seeing that, I think some of the more "revealing" outfits( I.e. Pocohantas and possibly Jasmine) are are just fine, most kids aren't that atuned to things like that anyways.
