Today, I was very sick with a stomach virus, so I went to the only doctor's office open on Sundays. Even though I was feeling like a pile of shit, I waited for a woman who was walking in behind me to hold the door open for her. She was the last patient they could take for the day. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, after I've been nauseous for a week straight, barely eating or sleeping, I was going to see my doctor. She then called in sick and I can't get an appointment for another week. FML
Today, I had a doctor's appointment. I arrived early so I could check in with the receptionists about this weird communication mixup that's caused me to miss my last two appointments. Despite what my appointment card said, I arrived to find the office closed. FML
Today, I was sick, so I went into work to see if I could get my shift covered, instead of just calling in. I ended up working an extra hour. FML
Today, I was sick, so I emailed my co-workers with a list of my hours, asking if anyone would be willing to cover them for me. I only got one hour covered, and that was during a day I don't even work. FML
What do you mean, lady?
Today, I went to the doctor's office for an appointment. After waiting for ages, I asked the receptionist what the delay was. Apparently, I had no standing appointment today. This is coming from the same receptionist who checked me in nearly two hours ago. FML
Today, I went to the hospital due to extreme sickness. My boyfriend saw this as an opportune time to take another girl out since I was "otherwise preoccupied." FML
The longest monologue
Today, I was waiting in a doctor's office when I was approached by an elderly woman. She told me all about the ripping of her stitches in a very private place, in exhaustive detail. Of course, today was the day my doctor chose to be an hour late. FML
Today, after I've been sick all week, but still coming in to work (I'm not contagious) because I know that we're short staffed, I sucked it up and came in again, only to find out 3 other employees called in because they're hungover. Now I have to do my job and theirs. FML
Thank you for your service
Today, I've been horribly sick with a stomach virus. Six hours ago, I asked my husband to go to the store and get me a few things that would help ease my misery. He's still in bed and I'm cleaning the house in between bouts of vomiting. FML
Today, after checking in and waiting for three hours to see the doctor, the receptionist said she forgot about me because she didn't see me. She asked me to come back tomorrow. I was sitting right in front of her. FML

I'm a woman and I hold doors open for other people.... it has nothing to do with gender, people do it because its nice. Also, doctors can't do anything for viruses so they would have told you to get lots of rest, drink lots of fluids, etc. So really she saved you from paying for a doctor's visit needlessly ;)

the BRAT diet will bind your stools--bananas, rice, apples, and toast. Lots of fluids and get to the ER ASAP if you're dehydrated.

Doctors are supposed to work the duration of their day. OP could have gone earlier but left it until the last minute.

That one word "first" got you all those thumbs down. Let this be a lesson for all the other braggarts out there.

from the sound of it, he did. And, of course, that's bullshit. FYL. But just wait a few comments and we'll get those pessimistic YDI finders :(

Something very similar to this happened in Curb Your Enthusiasm. Where Larry goes to see a doctor who works on the 2bd floor so gets on the elevator, the doors are closing and this fat disgusting bitch is running begging him to hold it open so he does (amazingly). When they get off he let's her off first, it's halfway down the hallway he realizes they are going to the same place. Since she was a fat pig he was trying to get by but couldn't. Ended up waiting an extra hour cuz of her, when his appointment took 2 minutes.

Apparently people had to start opening doors for ladies when corsettes came into fashion - they made women faint from the smallest effort. It's true that we can once again use our own hands. I'm a woman and I hold doors, but for both sexes, I'm not sexist about it :D

maybe its just courtesy? i mean would you want some one walking in front of you to slam the door on your face? come on, everyone holds doors for other people, at least here they do...

I hold doors open for guys. That obviously have bodies. Because you don't nessacarily need hands to open a door, but it's the nice thing to do.

You are quite right, stomach viruses aren't treated, but how does the OP know that it's a virus? Salmonella/Campylobacter/Shigella are relatively common and hell, I couldn't differentiate between that and a virus. And oddly enough, these can be treated with antibiotics. Also Parasites are a viable of course.

As it is often said 'No good deed goes unpunished'. I am sorry for your misfortune =(

Karma is a bitch ... she'll get that woman what she deserves soon enough. I hope you get better soon, stomach virii suck :S

Viruses - there's no such word as virii. It's a word people use to try to sound clever when in fact it has the opposite effect.
