Today, I was trying to make a good impression with my fiancé's friends. After a few hours, I thought all was going well. As I walked to the washroom, I heard, "So what disability does she have? No one can be like that without something wrong in their brain." FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I met my girlfriend's parents for the first time. Within minutes, they said I needed to leave. Their reason? Apparently, I was mocking her dad's speech impediment. I also have one but they wouldn't believe me. FML
Today, during my first date with a girl I've liked for awhile, she tells me about some minor disabilities she was born with. Wanting to be honest with her too, I tell her I'm slightly autistic. Her response was, "I'm sorry this isn't going to work. I can't date a retard." I had to eat alone after that. FML
Today, while at my friend's house, I noticed her brother had a bit of an accent. I laughingly said "Is it me or does your little brother have an accent?" She stared and replied with "No, he has autism." FML
Today, I overheard my wife telling my mother-in-law I was diagnosed with a learning disability earlier this week. She replied, "I always knew he was a retard. Why did you ever marry that idiot?" All my wife did was mutter "I don't know." FML
Nice guy
Today, my friend fixed me up with a guy from her workplace. I'm painfully shy, so I really appreciated it and was looking forward to meeting him, since she described him as very sweet. Once the date got started, he continuously made fun of my speech impediment, until I finally left in tears. FML
Today, I went to a haunted house with my fiancé. A few minutes in, I saw someone following us so I turned and screamed. She ran off and my fiancé explained that she wasn't an actor, just a lady with a pigment disorder. I can never go back there again. FML
Toxic people
Today, I went out with my parents and a family friend. After saying goodbye to the friend and as soon as the elevator doors shut, my parents started trash-talking the friend's looks, stature, choice of clothes, etc. Now I understand a lot about my education growing up. FML
Tonight, on First Dates…
Today, I got slapped by a date because she thought I was making fun of her speech impediment. I wasn't making fun, I just have the same speech impediment. FML
Today, I got all excited because I thought my crush was flirting with me, when in actuality she was taking advantage of me liking her so she and her friends could make fun of my speech impediment. FML
Today, I was invited by my boyfriend's parents for dinner at their house. The dinner went well I thought, until I was getting ready to leave. Before I could make it out the front door, I could hear them discussing their disappointment that their son would ever consider someone like me. FML

Play along and punch them. Since you are retarded and can't control your actions

Well that's just rude. I hope your fiancé stood up for you.

That truly sucks OP, I'm so sorry. My friend had something similar happen where she thought everything was fine and then her 'friends' turned round and said a load of similar stuff. Are you sure they were talking about you though? or maybe they were joking about you doing something they wouldn't normally do? (Like exercising, or performing live or anything really). Or were they talking about your fiance and why you were dating him? As a joke? If not then ignore them and move on. That talk is immature, ignorant and petty and you really really don't need them. I am sure you were fine. Everyone thinks someone is weird or different, you may have just met some jerks who made a snapshot impression based on something only they can see and went with it.

Don't read too much into it. I'm dating a woman who's truly amazing, and my friends all say that they don't know what's wrong with her because she stays with me. Guys pick on each other, a lot. It's our way of showing endearment to each other. My friends are douchebags, but they're my douchebags; I love those douchebags.

Do these friends live in another city? Because its strange to be engaged to someone and you are just meeting his friends which I'm assuming are really good friends or you wouldn't feel a need to impress them.

Maybe they mean it in a "she's too good to be true and there's got to be a hidden issue" way?

Maybe in trying to make a good impression, you gave them a false sense of who you are. People hate feeling like they've been lied to.

But you are different with different people - who you really are isn't one thing. Most of us act differently in public to private for example. We follow social norms and sometimes we don't agree with them or we wouldn't both with a close friend - it isn't lying.

All that matters is whether or not your fiancé agreed with them.

It was just banter.
