Today, I was told that I may die by the time I'm 30, and that I should Google the disorder because he doesn't know what it is for sure. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Am I being Punk'd?
Today, I was told by a doctor that I have a fatal disease, and that I should start making preparations for when I pass away. Then, another doctor showed up, panicking, and said that was meant for someone else with the same first name as me. The mini-heart attack I had at that moment almost killed me anyway. FML
Pile on
Today, I was laughingly informed that I'm an overachiever, by my doctor who thinks I have more health conditions than anyone my age should have. Guess who was just diagnosed with another? FML
Bit of both
Today, at the age of 30, I was diagnosed with both sciatica and ADHD. I don't know whether to feel really old, or really young. FML
Do your own research
Today, after decades of 24/7 cognitive impairment and being made to feel like a hypochondriac by many doctors over the years, I learned I have a severe physical illness. I kept researching and discovered my own illness, found out which test to ask for, and finally showed doctors proof. FML
Walking Dead
Today, my doctor informed me I was a fascinating patient. Why? I have "more health issues than a patient my age should." I'm 26. FML
Coulda, shoulda, woulda
Today, my doctor said I "might" have an enlarged heart and an irregular heartbeat. It "could" be seriously life-threatening and I "should" go to a specialist for further tests. My insurance refuses to cover my consultation with the specialist because the doctor's wording is too uncertain. FML
Support system
Today, I found out that I have a heart disease. When I went to tell my family, they all said that it should kill me faster so that I can donate my organs to my cousin. FML
Tell us more in the comments!
Today, as I continue to experience more revelations about how fucked up my mental and physical health really are, I'm starting to feel as though I was destined to not live very long. If I were to list every mental health issue or chronic condition I have, it would likely be enough for an entire Wikipedia article. FML
Today, my doctor died. Last week, after a check up I'd had because I was worried about a cough, he told me not to worry because I was as healthy as he was. FML
What is "normal" anyway?
Today, I was told by a doctor in no uncertain terms that, with all of my mental and physical health conditions and personality disorders, there is, "absolutely no way I can possibly live a normal life, unless a miracle occurs." Well, I guess I'll just go fuck myself, then. FML

This doctor is obviously myopic and inexperienced. No one can know when you will die and giving you a time limit is absurd. According to a doctor a long time ago, I was only expected to live until the age of 8. I am now 16 and will be turning 17 soon! I'd say in your case, if the doctor doesn't know anything you can't take his word so there is still hope for you to get better.

People!! Do have any idea how many "bugs" and illnesses and ailments are out there? You can't expect every doc to know everything about each possible diagnosis. (s)he could have looked it up at the office, but then the patient is listening to him read, and absorbing only half of what is said, or they can read it on their own, and likely comprehend a little more. I don't think this person is going to trust everything they could potentially find online, anyhow.

Actually, doctors should know pretty much close to everything. It's why they went to undergrad/medical school/internships for 8+ years. We don't pay them to sit there and look pretty, we pay them to save our lives.

I hate to burst your bubble, but internists do NOT know everything, nor should they be expected to. They know a lot about certain common maladies, and a bit less about many more, and not a whole lot about the rare stuff. The same can be said about specialists as well. There are too many things that can go wrong with the human body for anyone (except a savant) to know everything about everything. OP obviously has a rare disease, but if the doctor didn't know about the condition, he should have read up on it prior to giving the diagnosis.
