You didn't wonder why his friends were there? (pre-emptive strike at ppl who'll reply without thinking: If his friends normally dropped him off, OP should have expected it and not come to the door in lingerie. If his friends left instead of waiting then he'd be awkwardly stranded for a while after they were done.)
