Today, despite leaving early to go to work, I still ended up late because some dude decided to have an argument with the bus driver, delaying us by 20 minutes. As a result, I was fired without a write-up. This was my first ever time being late. FML

Today, I was chastised by the CEO in the middle of a management meeting for showing up late to work every day, despite being in my office before 9:00am every morning. It was my 5th day on the job and no one had bothered to tell me that the office opens at 8:00am, and not 9:00am. FML

Well that depends. Was there a specific task to be completed before you arrived, that was your job to do? If so, even if you were the first one but were late for said task, it is definitely a reason to be yelled at.

No, you were not the first, your boss was. Your coworkers could of gotten the same treatment, it's just you were the "first" to get it.
