Today, I took my 6-year-old son to visit his grandmother, as the doctors say she only has days left to live. Minutes after we arrived, he leaned in close and told her that she's going to hell. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I'm beginning to regret explaining death to my 3-year-old son. We were at the supermarket when he looked at an elderly woman and loudly told her "You're gonna die soon!" FML
Little shit
Today, I went to the graveyard with my little brother to visit my grandfather's grave. While we were there, my brother suddenly asked me, "Can you die now? I hate you." He's 7 years-old. FML
Drama alert
Today, I went to visit my grandparents, as my grandmother may not have long left. When my stepfather wasn't grilling my visibly uncomfortable grandad about Bible passages, my mother was trauma-dumping about how hard her life has been, and how awful her marriage to my father was. They're his parents. FML
Today, my daughter apparently has had enough of my mother-in-law's favoritism and constant bashing of me by telling her, "Grandma, might I highly recommend death at this point?" She's 7. FML
Today, I told my grandmother I was planning a trip to take my newborn son to meet his great-great-grandfather before it was too late. She had a guilty expression on her face. My great-grandfather died 4 months ago and my family forgot to tell me. FML
Demons
Today, I was visiting my grandmother's house. She keeps the thermostat on 85 and after about 30 minutes I explained to her that, "I'm going to have to leave, it's just too hot in here." She replied, "You think it's hot in here, wait until you get to hell." I laughed. She didn't. FML
Today, I woke up to my 5-year-old son covering my nose and mouth with his hand and complaining, "Noooo, you need to die now." FML
I blame the parents
Today, my tired son and I were riding a shuttle bus. An old lady got on, and I told him we needed to get up so she could have the seat. He started crying and screamed, "WHY? She's old, she's gonna die soon!" I wanted to melt into the ground. FML
Today, I visited my grandmother who has dementia. She thought I was my father, and told me that I should never have married my mother, let alone have had children with her. FML
Today, I was talking to my only grandson about how I was going to the dentist to get my teeth fixed and how it was going to cost a lot of money, he replied saying "Who cares, you're going to die soon anyways". FML

YOU raised him. He's six, he doesn't know better, he only knows what you have taught him.

Where did he get that from?

This is just my guess, but if I'm correct, she would be your husband's mother-in-law, right? Perhaps, the father has had a strained relationship with your mother, and your child has heard him damn her to hell before.

Why would he say that?

Have you by chance been saying she is going to hell?

Or, the kid overheard the burial plan and they are going to bury her in Hell, Michigan. It's quiet there.

Kids these days...

Kids have always behaved like this. Shitty parenting isn't a new thing these days.

Be sure to remind him on the drive home that when HE dies he'll be meeting up withGrandma in Hell. Maybe that will shut him up. For a minute.

Who the **** would say that to a child?!

Maybe it's a line from a movie he shouldn't have watched? My 5 y/o sis repeats things from movies/programmes she sees on the TV sometimes...In saying that, she repeats some things we say sometimes so we're extra careful what we say around her too.

I've seen movies marketed at kids that use words like hell and damn in them. But those are the kind of movies kids should watch with adults so they can tell them what not to say.

Because a child may be able to watch it (with or without his parents) Doesn't mean that it'd be marketed for children. If there's "hell" and "damn" in it like you've said, it'd be rated AT LEAST with a PG rating, be it for movies or TV. Rango was rated PG, and it was given so much flak for having those two words in there a couple times. Still rated PG. A particular episode of Home Improvement had Tim hurt his hand with a hammer while teaching the boys' scout troop how to use tools. After a scene transition, the youngest one says, "Yeah! He was saying 'hell' and 'damn'!" To which Tim retorts, "I did not say 'damn'." "Now, you did!" The Home Improvement may be safe to watch with children in the room most of the time, but it's still not marketed for children.

When I first read this, I thought you said that your son only has a few days to live and that the grandmother told him he's going to hell Like shit that's depressing
