Today, I went to meet my dad, who I haven't seen in years, at a convenience store. He didn't show up, because the location was "inconvenient." FML
Today, I went to visit my parents after 4 years of not seeing them. They'd moved without telling me. FML
Today, it hit me that my dad didn't cry when I moved out, he did so only when I came back later to pick up my cat. FML
Today, I was handing candy to a little boy who was trick or treating by himself. He was small enough to grab the candy and run past me into my house. I've been searching my house for two hours and still can't find him. I'm afraid to go to sleep. FML
Today, my 3 year old daughter's Halloween costume finally got delivered. FML
Today, I was excited to finally receive my Halloween costume in the mail after the one I ordered back in September got lost in transit. Upon reaching my mailbox, I saw the lock had been broken off and my new costume had been stolen. The party is tomorrow. FML
Today, my son couldn't find all the parts to his Cub Scout uniform. I had a serious talk with him about being prepared, and how he would need to live with the consequences of not having the right outfit on. When we arrived at the meeting, everyone was in costumes because it's Halloween. I forgot. FML
Today, I saw my dad for the first time in ten years. He was stealing my car. FML
Today, my dad has gone to two different relatives’ weddings in two different states this month alone. I also found out about his big birthday celebration, his BBQ and his trip to Vegas. I saw it all on Facebook. I’ve not been invited to anything, and he never visits me. I live an hour away. FML
Today, I was hanging out with a guy for the second time, and he was helping me buy a Christmas present for my dad. I excused myself to go to the bathroom, and when I came out, he was gone. He left me alone and took my dad's present with him. FML

So I'm sorry that you had that happen to you OP. But no offense, it's been 11 years, move on. Having something like this happen to you should ultimately make you a better person. It's just as likely he was a victim of some tragedy, and I know many people here would feel like complete assholes if it did turn out that they just jumped to conclusions. 193 - I get where you are coming from but that sentence could also be used if OP's dad died. And thing is this fml, no matter how sad it is, is vague. All we know is that the dad is gone. Is he dead? Maybe. Did he abondon his wife and kid? Maybe. It is all speculation and only OP knows the truth.

154, I don't think it would be necessary to state what happened to him. It's an FML because hes gone, not for the reason for leaving. There are several possibilities that fit within the story given, it doesn't take much brainpower to process that. While it is more likely he ran away I wouldn't be saying shit about him or the situation unless I was completely sure, apparently you would rather just jump to a conclusion and stick with it.

The ghost theory works exceptionally well, quite possibly being the reason the family has moved twice since the father left. They think it's a real ghost haunting the houses they have lived in, when all along, it's only been the Dad trying to get their attention to help him get the ghost costume off... I know OP said nothing about hauntings but that's all I've got. And I'm sorry OP, if your Dad isn't a ghost and really just left for no reason, he's an A-hole!

We don't know how old OP is. She could very well be 29 years old and could have been 18 when her father left. Yes, it may seem odd for a father to buy a costume for an adult child; however judging by the vast majority of the FMLs posted it's quite plausible.
