Today, I realized that having an open relationship isn't all that great, when my boyfriend hooked up with his ex and dumped me for her. FML

Same thing different taste

Friends?
Today, I found out that the girl my boyfriend says is "just a good old friend" is actually an "ex that got away." FML
Today, I told my boyfriend about a friend-with-benefits that I had before him, and he dumped me because I’m still friends with that person, and I didn’t tell him about him right away. FML
Breaking!
Today, my boyfriend wanted my emotional support after his other girlfriend hit him with a phone charger when she found out he had two girlfriends. Yes folks, the open relationship thing was news for me, too. FML

A relationship is like a circle. When a circle is open, it's not a circle anymore.

Open relationships are like getting drunk on a Tuesday - it may seems like a strange idea at first, but then it starts to seem like a great idea, then it gets better and better and better until at the end it ******* sucks and you're left drooling and crying on the toilet.

Why does she? She wasn't cheated on. Open relationships pretty much always have this outcome.

I'd argue it's even more important for communication and boundaries to be set, in this situation. Intimacy has the potential to spark romance. So having sex with someone, even if it's just for fun, does too. You should fully know the risks of anything before you do it.

Honestly, what did you expect would happen?

An open relationship is friends with benefits not a real relationship. So YDI for not making him committ or get lost.

I've been with my partner for nearly 5 years and we're open. We love each other and plan to get married someday, but we also like to have sex with other people sometimes. Don't judge a relationship that you're not in.

#26 - Ive been with my wife for 9 years. We are very much in love, live together, are raising a child together, share finances, own a company together, have committed ourselves to be there for each other through thick and thin, and have a life partnership in every way. I also have a girlfriend, who has been with me for almost 3 years. We are also committed to be there for each other, and are very much in love. She and my wife are good friends, and we are all very happy with our arrangement. Would you care to explain to me how my relationships are nothing more than "friends with benefits" and are not "real relationships?"

One of my friends who is in an open relationship recently moved more than 300 miles away from his home for his studies. His boyfriend left his job and followed him. Please tell me when you find a "friend with benefits" who'd do the same.

That's why my fiance and I made rules. But that really sucks, don't get back with him if he asks
