Today, I moved back in with my parents in order to help them with the mortgage, so they don't lose the house that has been in our family for three generations. I also found out that I now have a curfew, and so does my husband and our 3 year old son. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Masking off
Today, I moved in with my parents because I can't afford to live on my own. I now pay 100% of the bills and can't leave because I can't save to replace my stolen/totaled car. I also can't drop my mask at home because 33 is apparently to old to be autistic, and I'm so tired and burnt out. I'm also not allowed to sleep. FML
Waste of time
Today, my parents have separated. I stayed with them, living at home far too long for my own comfort, just to help them keep it together after they lost their remaining parents. Literally the month after I moved out, they decided it wasn't worth it. I now suspect they stayed together only because I still lived at home. FML
Today, I let my estranged husband move back in with my son and me. Later, his pregnant and underage girlfriend knocked on my door, crying about how her mom kicked her out. I'm such a pushover, they're in my bed and I'm on the couch. FML
Control
Today, I moved out of my parents' house and started living alone. All of a sudden, my parents started requiring me to text or call them every 5 minutes to tell them where I am and what I'm doing, from 6am to 12am every day. If I don't, they will go looking for me, and force me to move back in with them. FML
Oddly specific
Today, I have no choice but to move back in with my mom and her husband, who are still married even though he's responsible for the house fire that killed my two younger brothers in 2013. FML
Today, I had to admit to everyone, including my cable guy, that I'm moving back in with my parents. FML
Today, marks the third time this month my parents came to visit. I moved 5 hours away to get away from them. FML
Today, after months of telling my parents I was going to live on my own, I finally moved out. Not even 24 hours being out of their house, some reject burned down the apartment complex I live in. Guess who's moving back home. FML
Just no!
Today, after I just bought a house that is pretty good and suits all our needs for space, my in-laws moved in because they ran into financial troubles. Guess who is stuck with all the extra expenditures? FML
Today, I visited my dad. He gave the, "You live under my roof, you follow my rules" lecture since I didn't do my "chores". I moved out 3 years ago. FML

If you're helping with the mortgage then you have power. Threaten to move out and not help pay.

This is fake, if the house had been passed down 3 times already the mortgage would be paid off

Parents will always be strict no matter what unless they're not!! That was very clever, thanks.

If you are paying rent then they have no say. You are an adult by the way. Tell them nicely to "shove it!" ;)

That's b.s. If I were you, I'd say either I live as I please(within reason) or I'm leaving and not helping you out. It's not worth it.

it takes 3 generations to pay off one mortgage?

It is possible that to inherit the house from the deceased parents, OP's parent had to payoff her sibling(s)' interest in the house. For example, if I were to inherit a $500,000 house from my parents, I would have to pay off my four siblings' interest in the home and would therefore need a mortgage of approximately $400,000.00.

"It is possible that to inherit the house from the deceased parents, OP's parent had to payoff her sibling(s)' interest in the house. " Only if the house was inherited by all the siblings. Anyway, my guess is that that's not the problem here; the OP emphasises how this house has been in the family for three generations. If the parents are paying out their siblings' share in the house, then if they 'lost' the house it'd still stay in the family by going to one of the other siblings. Unless the siblings forced the OP's parents to actually take out a mortgage to pay them up front, in which case they'd be pretty unsympathetic siblings.

why can't you just lend them money and stay in your own house?

Raising a small child, they probably can't afford to help pay a mortgage and pay rent for another home. Moving in they are helping to pay for the house and they don't have to pay rent somewhere else.

Not everyone has money to pay their own rent/mortgage AND lend money to pay someone else's mortgage. Edit - didn't see the above comment.
