Today, I’m showering at a local firehouse. Why? Because our shower is broken and my dad refuses to fix it, or get someone to fix it for us. It’s been a year and a half since I've showered in my own home. FML
Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Slumlords
Today, and for the last two weeks, my asshole landlord refuses to fix the hot water supply. My shower is now so cold that peeing on myself while washing is actually helping. I need a new place. FML
Today, I was taking a shower, when my dad decided to turn off the water to the house, run upstairs, and throw a bucket of freezing cold sludge into the shower with me. He wouldn't turn the water back on for 2 hours. FML
Today, I went down to my accommodation office in fiery wrath, demanding that something be done about my three-days-cold shower. Looking dubious, they sent someone back with me. As soon as we got there he looked at me with deep pity and pulled the cord in the corner that activated the hot water. FML
Today, my dad went to a hardware store to replace the broken shower head in my bathroom. He got the cheapest shower head he could find, and so when I took a shower, the shower head burst out and hit me square in the face. FML
Cough up
Today, my water got cut off. The previous homeowners owed the water company over $300, and the company doesn't believe that I'm not them. The supervisor told me this will keep happening until I pay up. I need a shower. FML
Today, I found my dad using my bathroom. Why? Because he "had to take a crap" and didn't want to stink up his own bathroom. FML
Today, I discovered my new step-dad has a rule about the shower. After three minutes, he turns the water off at the source. I had to beg him to turn it back on whilst covered in shampoo suds, and the only way I could get him to give me another minute was to forfeit my phone for the week. FML
Home Improvement
Today, our washing machine broke and dumped around 100 gallons onto the floor. My dad had installed crappy water valves and we couldn’t turn off the water. I called my dad and he accused me of lying. His “repairs” have now caused 5 major disasters in our home due to his shoddy and cheap work. FML
Today, my roommate confided in me that she hadn't been taking showers while at school because she was afraid of being in the shower when the fire alarm goes off. She goes home once every month, and will only shower there. I have to live with her for the rest of the year. FML
Today, I had to pee in the kitchen sink because my bathroom is being completely revamped, and the only other toilet in the house is my parents'. They refuse to let anyone use it. FML

some homes or apartments might not have a bath, just a shower. or maybe there's another reason they can only wash standing up, mobility issues perhaps and can't use a bath. or perhaps with the shower broken the tub facet is also broken, so both bath and shower don't work. tho i have to wonder, does the father just not bath. ew

I have not had hot water in over 3 years. For a few bucks you can buy a camping shower and shower outside.

I'm just curious as to how you're able to shower at your local firehouse. every day? how does that even happen?

You can always call someone yourself and pay yourself? We live paycheck to paycheck and yet I am an adult and when stuff goes wrong in the house I also call people up to have them come out and I help pay or pay completely if I can. I’ve handled infestations, ac repairs, cable issues, power outages, car issues, and a lot more instead of waiting and making my dad do it cause I don’t want to. Im also insanely introverted so idk. I’d try calling yourself.

Could you find out what has to be done, and then order the parts you need on Amazon or smth? That way you don't have to drive! And maybe ask the firefighters to help you install it? They are nice enough to let you use their shower, chances are that they are willing to help you fix it :)

This is definitely your fault. You could've figured out how to fix it yourself or saved up money to have someone fix it.
