Today, I left my phone outside on the grass while I went inside to get a drink. I didn't expect my dad to run over it with the lawn mower. FML

Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I was mowing the lawn while wearing gym shorts. Because I had no pockets, I tucked my phone into the waistband of my shorts. I didn't notice my phone had slipped until the lawnmower started making an awful sound. FML
Today, I was out jogging. As I took a rest to have a drink of water, a car pulled onto the sidewalk and bumped into me. Not just any car; my dad's car. He then drove away. FML
Today, I forgot my phone on the roof of my car. I took a 30 minute drive from my friend's city to my city. I got on to my driveway, surprised to see my phone still there. Thinking I'm really lucky, I pick up my phone. Then, I trip over a pebble, cracking my phone in the process. FML
Today, after dropping my phone in the toilet, I left it dismantled outside in my backyard to dry hoping it could be saved. I forgot about the phone as well as the sprinklers that were scheduled to go off. FML
Today, I left my phone on the roof of my car after pumping gas. I drove off, and it wasn't until I heard a thud that I realized what had happened. Now my phone has a gash in the screen, and it's receiving angry texts from my girlfriend that I can't answer. FML
Today, my dad let me use his phone. Five minutes later, he had my mom call it because he thought he'd lost it. FML
Today, I put my phone on top the car while putting my daughter in her car seat. Told myself not to forget it. Then I drove away, and it flew off the top of the car on the freeway. It got ran over. FML
Today, my dad took my phone away because I "had to be texting while driving in order to wreck my car." I was too ashamed to tell him that a huge bug flew into my face causing me to veer off the road and into a brick mailbox. FML
Today, my phone died. I plugged it in to charge and then went out to run some errands. When I returned, my phone was no where to be found, and our shovel was on the floor, muddy and wet. I then discovered my 6-year old son had buried my "dead" 200$ palmpilot because he had felt sorry for me. FML
Today, I noticed that my mom had left the house without her cell phone. I called her phone to let her know she forgot it. FML

Did he start up the lawn mower as you went inside or was he already mowing the lawn

You couldn't hear him starting the mower/using the mower? I mean, it's not like the things have stealth-mode or something, they're pretty loud.

It's hard to imagine in the time it took you to go in and get a drink that he got out the lawn mower started it up and got to your phone unless the lawn mower was already out. ydi

as soon as i saw on the grass i knew this was trouble... now for the future get a nokia...if this happens again there will be no issue the lawn mower will probably break

It is OP's fault because only an idiot leaves their phones outside unattended. It could have been stolen, stepped on, or rained on. It only takes a second to put it in your pocket where it will be safe

I'll assume you weren't aware he was going to mow the lawn, but why would you leave your phone on the grass of all places? That's asking for something bad to happen. Why not just take inside with you?

Unless you left it on a sheet or with other stuff, this is entirely your fault! He didn't just start mowing whilst you went inside.
