Today, I got on the subway with a broken leg. A kind woman stood up and offered me her seat. Before I could sit down, a guy shoved past me and took it for himself. The woman and I pointed out my cast and crutches, and asked him to give up the seat. He responded by flipping us off. FML

Today, I got pushed around by several suspicious mothers in a playground. I just wanted to sit down and rest my feet while I waited for my wife to finish her shopping across the street. FML

Today, I got harassed and screamed at by a middle-aged man for parking in a spot close to the store, because he wanted the same spot so he didn't have to walk so far with his groceries. He took a photo and vowed to report me to the authorities. FML

Today, while on the bus, I found out the seat I'd taken was the preferred spot of a very hostile and extremely overweight freshman. Instead of letting me find different place to sit, she half sat on me, and completely ignored my attempts to dislodge myself all the way to school. FML

Today, on my way to school, I was shouted at by an obnoxious businessman for sitting down on the train when a "full fare paying passenger" was standing. I would normally have given him the seat straight away, except I have a broken leg. I showed him my leg and crutches. He still made me get up. FML

Today, I was yelled at by a bunch of angry people because I couldn't physically move out of the way while 10 more tried to force their way onto a subway in Shanghai. Then one old lady started hitting me with her purse to get me to move even more. FML

Assuming the person isn't elderly, disabled, or pregnant, OP is perfectly entitled to not giving up their seat.

The quickest way to get your spot back: flattery. "Wow, it's hard to believe that a peak physical performer like you would even /need/ a bench! A lowly weakling like me could really use a place to sit, especially after such a thorough ass-kicking!" Works every time! Uh, I'd imagine…

(fyi replying to replies doesn't work, you have to reply to the original comment) There's nothing in this FML to suggest that OP was bullied in any way beforehand. And even if the person did threaten them, it's not like anyone would be expected to follow through with such a threat.
