Unforgettable

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I realized that I’ve gone out of my way every year to make everyone around me’s birthday extra special. I can’t remember the last time anyone celebrated or remembered mine. This year my “best friend” scheduled her elective surgery I’m supposed to take her to on my birthday. What a party. FML
Today, I turned 22. Instead of cutting my own cake, I stood by and smiled at a friend's belated birthday party. Her birthday was actually two months ago, but she decided to have her party on my birthday. No one remembered mine but everyone got her beautiful gifts. FML
Today, I wished my best friend a happy birthday with a long, heartfelt post on social media. Turns out her birthday is next week, she'd just set a trap by changing the date on her profile. I was so confident that I even added, “Finally remembered this year!” FML
Today, it's my birthday. The present I received from my best friend was the exact same necklace which I gave to her for her birthday two months ago. It had been unwrapped and re-wrapped in the same paper. FML
Today, it was my birthday. Also today, same as the past five years, my family forgot my mine and threw a party for my 5-year-old twin sisters who I share a birthday with. FML
Today, it was my birthday. Two of my best friends forgot it, and so did my grandparents. All of my friends were busy, so I spent it alone in my car. FML
Today, it's my birthday. I got a phone call from my high school bully, to remind me that he'll always be able to find me and do whatever he wants to me. He does this every year. I turn 34 today. FML
Today, I texted my friend “Happy Birthday!” with balloons and confetti emojis. She replied, “It’s next week, but thanks for being early.” I’ve been her friend for ten years. FML
Today, my mom wished her best friend a Happy Birthday on Facebook. Her best friend died this year. Oh, did I mention that it’s also my birthday? FML
Today, it was my birthday. The only person that remembered was my creepy stalker. FML

Some people you just have to give up on,. My first cousin has a daughter (now in her twenties) who was born on my birthday. For several years in a row, I wished her a happy birthday on Facebook and pointed out that we have the same birthday. Each year that I said this, she expressed surprise, and never once did she wish me a happy birthday in return. It obviously means nothing to her, so I took the hint and stopped saying anything to her about it.

You need to do what my friend does to help everyone remember her mid-August birthday: she drops hints in the days leading up to it. Starting in May is a bit thirsty, though.

I'm bad with birthdays, so i use reminders on my phone. Borrow her phone and set a reminder for next year. If she "forgets" again, then you're off the hook for doing anything for all her bdays or special days.

I honestly think that if this has been going on for 20 years then you'd be use to it. ydi

A best friend... for 20 years that doesn’t remember your birthday. We have ways of remember things like reminders on our phones and calendars. Obviously they just don’t hold you to the same regard you hold them.

Maybe this person isn't really your friend if he/she hasn't figured it out in 20 years.

Points for consistency at least 😅
