Today, I learned that not texting my girlfriend for two days is considered dumping her, and is ample reason to screw other men. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Check yourself before you wreck yourself
Today, I dumped my girlfriend because she frequently wouldn't answer my texts or phone calls, and not call or message back for days. I felt that bringing it up made me a control freak. I couldn't take it anymore. FML
Today, my girlfriend broke up with me and threw all my stuff out into the yard because she caught me "texting another woman". Guess it didn't matter to her that the contact name was "Mom". FML
Today, this guy I was seeing dumped me for "bombarding" him with text messages. I'd sent him one text asking if he was okay, after he stood me up 2 nights in a row. FML
It's for the best
Today, my girlfriend had someone else dump me via text message. I knew it wasn't her because for once I wasn't being viciously insulted, and it wasn't written as if an illiterate baboon had taken a shit all over her keypad. I can't even feel happy about being rid of her. FML
Today, my girlfriend and I broke up. The reason? She slept with four men while I was two weeks away visiting my brother. She told me it was because she missed me so much. FML
Unreasonable
Today, my girlfriend accused me of cheating, all because I don't text her throughout the day. Last week she told me she would get fired if she was caught reading texts at work, and to stop texting her during her work hours. FML
Today, my girlfriend dumped me for another guy by text. I felt so betrayed, I stupidly tried to hurt her by replying that I'd been cheating on her all along with a hot babe. Turned out the dumping text was actually a prank by her friend. Now I'm single and everyone thinks I'm a cheater. FML
Today, I got dumped during sex. FML
Today, I got a text from my girlfriend saying she needed more phone credit, so I bought her more and got another message saying "Great, now I have enough credit for this..." as she spelled out a three page message breaking up with me. Yes, I paid for her to break up with me via text. FML
Today, I sent my girlfriend a text this morning saying I love you. I rarely do this and instead of receiving the same message back, I got a message from my girlfriend accusing me of meaning to send it to someone else and dumped me. FML

Well, this depends, did you just not text or completely cease communication for no reason? She's still overreacting, but I might be a little peeved too, if my boyfriend dropped off the planet with no explanation for two days.

Is there any reason for the lack of contact? Had you been fighting before? This needs follow up

Had she tried to text you during that time?

We don't know nearly enough about the whole situation, but what boggles my mind are the number of people on this thread (the majority of whom are women) who seem to sympathize with the person who cheated in this story!

Dude if they went from talking everyday to all of sudden him not responding for two days, how could she not take that as a break up? She was supposed to just wait and see if he ever responded? What exactly is the right amount of time to wait for a response before you're broken up? A week? A year? He could have at least told her he's got a lot going on and he's busy or something, it would have taken two seconds to send that text. You just have no idea what the situation is and she really could have believed they were over. You were right when you said we don't know enough about the story and you should have stopped there.

Right out of the gate, you're making assumptions. "If they were talking every day" We don't know how long they've been together, how serious the relationship was, whether or not the OP had bad or no reception and wasn't able to send a text, etc, etc. As for what's the right amount of time to wait before making the decision that the relationship is over, I'd say give it a week. Besides, we don't know if OP's girlfriend was sending him messages during those two days. I still have a gut feeling that this was his now ex-girlfriend's lame ass excuse to end the relationship.

Damn, so if I get a gf I am obligated to text her every minute every day? Sounds extremely annoying and I am not huge on texting.

Texting every minute of everyday is called obsessive and clingy. This is not what she was saying. If you are in a relationship, communication is a big part of it. When my husband goes away for work, we may have limited contact, but there is at least a quick good morning or good night every day. That is not too much to ask.

No, you're not obligated to. But if you suddenly stopped contact with no warning if you don't typically do so, unfortunately some people actually use that as a way to break up. Still pretty early to be going out and screwing others, but maybe it's how she copes. Though not saying op should forgive her and get back together or anything, that's totally up to him.

I think it depends wholly on that, 29. If the two communicated and the dude said what he was gonna do prior to those two days, then ... no excuse. Hell, if they just had a general conversation and simply didn't chat for two days, still no excuse. I'm one of those types that doesn't feel obligated to text everyday or even every other day, as long as I know you're okay. Honestly, I just think she wanted to go bang dudes.

Good for you ! I hate how ppl now a days think it is the end of the world if you are not texting them every second
Eivana 37
Why would you not say even as much as a hello for two whole days?
Bigmike211995 8
It is just 2 days and not the end of the world ?

It's shit like this that makes me really miss the days before cell phones. I recently had a situation in which this girl I was seeing texted me to call her when I was on my way home from the gym, and I didn't check my phone until I went home (which takes about 15 minutes), but called anyway. She immediately got pissed and accused me of cheating, then blocked me on everything possible. Haha

There's no reason to automatically sleep with guys but yes if I haven't heard from my so in two days I would have thought we were broken up there's no excuse for you to not shoots quick text saying hi sorry I'm busy today can't talk or whatever

Not everyone feels the need to be in contact everyday. Every relationship is different. My boyfriend and I, for various reasons, might only text once or twice a week and not think anything of it. He lives less than a mile away, but between our work schedules and other responsibilities, we see each other maybe twice a month. Other people have to text or see each other everyday. There's not quite enough info here to know what their relationship was like.

Yeah Op we need a follow up there is not enough info in this FML for me to pass any judgement on the situation

The fact that cheating on you was the first thing that popped into her mind when you didn't text back shows that maybe you you should never text her back again.

I'd be pissed if my bf stopped talking to me for two days without reason, but I certainly wouldn't cheat. Ever.

yeah, you are an idiot.

How so??

Why would you not talk to your girlfriend for 2 days? I'd be pretty pissed if I was her, OP.
sparkledoge 29
You and OP's girlfriend are way too clingy. the whole "hey what's up how are you k i love you too" type of conversations really bothers me. My boyfriend an I often spent a few days not talking to each other, we've been dating for 5 years and everything is going very well.
MandieL 27
So because she wants an open line of communication she is clingy? Those short and sweet text or phone calls may bother you, but that does not mean that people who expect them are clingy. A simple good morning, or good night takes 2 seconds. If you can't take 2 seconds in a busy day to let your SO know that you're thinking of them, I feel sorry for your SO. I know my husband loves me, and I don't need to hear him tell me to know it, but it is still nice to hear it everyday. That doesn't make me clingy, that puts me in a relationship where we both feel loved and appreciated.

Sometimes you just work or have school and you give them a little space.
