Today, I learned from my daughter's teacher that she has been wearing the same shirt for the past few weeks, ever since we had a fight about how I don't pay attention to her. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Rip off
Today, I learned that my daughter pocketed the money I'd paid so she could go to college. FML
How not to raise 'em right
Today, I learned that my 13 year-old daughter has been wearing the same pad for a week “because there’s no blood on it.” When I told her that it's still disgusting, she tried to defend herself be saying that, "no one ever told her how long she could wear it." FML
Fashionista
Today, my mother had a full-on hissy fit because of the clothes I was wearing. Not because she thought they were inappropriate, but because I was "stealing her look." FML
Kids will be kids
Today, I learned my son has been picking on a girl he has a crush on. He apparently went too far, because she finally snapped and beat him up at recess. The teacher, who knew about this from the beginning and actively did nothing, is trying to throw me under the bus for being oblivious to my son's behavior. FML
Today, I returned a shirt for my mom. When the cashier asked why, I just said my mom didn't like the way it looked. After an awkward pause, I noticed the cashier was wearing the same shirt. She was not amused. FML
Today, after having bought my daughter a complete set of new school clothes, she threw a tantrum and refused to wear them. I told her she could either wear them, or go to school naked. She made if half-way down the street in the nude before I caught up and dragged her back inside. FML
Clashing
Today, my daughter came home in tears, completely distraught. It took half an hour to convince her to tell me what was wrong. What horrific thing happened to her? One of her friends wore the same outfit as her to the movies, and apparently that's a betrayal of their friendship. FML
Today, after a conference with my teacher who had previously accused me of not doing my homework, she finally discovered she'd been losing it all this time. I've been getting straight Fs for a month. FML
Modesty
Today, I found out that my 11 year-old daughter dresses skimpy when I drop her off on the weekends at my ex-husband’s house, courtesy of his girlfriend, who he cheated on me with. When I confronted her, she told me to “stop being such a prude” and with my attitude, “no wonder you get cheated on.” FML
Today, marks the fourth day in a row that I've worn the same outfit to prove to my parents that they pay me no attention. They still haven't noticed. FML

How do you not notice that?

Well she proved her point- you clearly aren't paying attention.

Kids are often right about things when they're the ones being affected. Subtleties get noticed very well!

No sarcasm intended.

Smart kid, proving her point like that. Believe me, it's not fun to have your teacher notice you more than your own parents.

I think if your kid argues with you about you ignoring her you clearly need to spend more time together. I don't care if you think you spend time with her already, she obviously doesn't feel that way, and that needs to be fixed. You should feel lucky she wants to spend time with you at all.

I just want to point out one small flaw in that statement (I know this clearly doesn't apply with the OP but..) , I have met some kid's who's parents spend every waking minute with them, playing with them, listening to them, all that crud, and as soon as mom or dad wants do something for themselves, start screaming about how mom and dad never pay attention to them. Sometimes it is just dramatics.

Well said #28 It really shouldn't have even been an argument... your daughter obviously wants for you to spend more time with her. I know if you're a single parenting working that that time can be really hard to make, but she's obviously feeling like she's under your notice... which she then proved. Try for the both of you to reconnect with your daughter, and you might see what you've been missing out on. Good luck OP.

You probably have these fights because you don't bother to spend time with her or have a good relationship.

Knowing OP failed to notice something like this, s/he probably denied it and didn't admit that s/he was wrong and wouldn't surprise me if s/he punished the daughter.

Whoops, sucks when the kids are right, doesn't it.... Now you have to say you're sorry, tell her she's right and try to live this down. Good luck.

Luckily, since you live in the US, there's a public register of people in your neighborhood who love to pay attention to neglected children.
