Today, my mother had a full-on hissy fit because of the clothes I was wearing. Not because she thought they were inappropriate, but because I was "stealing her look." FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, my mom yelled at me for going through her closet for some warmer clothes. She had a rant about taking her clothes without her permission, all while wearing a pair of my boots and one of my sweaters. FML
Today, I went to visit my overly-posh mother for the first time in many years. Upon arrival, she kicked me out because my outfit did not follow the same color-scheme as her decor. FML
Today, I went clothes shopping. I took my little daughter into the dressing room while I tried some clothes on. She somehow managed to open the door while I was changing. A lady outside then bitched me out for "exposing" myself to her kids. FML
Today, a woman had a wardrobe malfunction right in front of me. As if that's not awkward enough, that woman was my own mother. FML
Today, I returned a shirt for my mom. When the cashier asked why, I just said my mom didn't like the way it looked. After an awkward pause, I noticed the cashier was wearing the same shirt. She was not amused. FML
Today, I had to explain to my 65-year-old mother that it is inappropriate for her to walk around in front of me in her underwear. Her response? "Too bad." FML
Today, I noticed that my mom had been hiding all my leggings and yoga pants from me. Upon asking her, she admitted that she was jealous that my butt is bigger than hers, and that when I wear those types of pants, it's like I'm "rubbing it in". FML
Today, after having bought my daughter a complete set of new school clothes, she threw a tantrum and refused to wear them. I told her she could either wear them, or go to school naked. She made if half-way down the street in the nude before I caught up and dragged her back inside. FML
Today, I had to explain to my mother that a lace mini-dress with an obscene amount of cleavage was not appropriate to wear while meeting my boyfriend's parents. She called me an "annoying prude" and said that with my attitude, I don't deserve to have a man. FML
Today, apparently, I can't have a bad day. After school, mom asked me if I'd had a good day. I told her no. Without asking, she went on a tirade about how unsociable I am and how poor my attitude is. I was harassed all day by my classmates because I don't wear expensive brand name clothes like they do. FML

Either your mom dresses too young for her age, or you dress too much like older people.

#5: But competition in female fashion is something amongst the youth, and it can create some awkward conflict if said competition is between a mother and a daughter.

Being a guy that's probably why I don't understand...we dress the same become bear friends...chicks on the other hand usually have a problem...

Wow I got one letter wrong, I am a complete idiot. I should go re-evaluate my life now. P.S. it was A QUOTE, can you not infer the meaning from it or do I have to explain it to you?

Haha that just means that she passed down her sense of style to you. She should be honored.

Maybe your mom should consider dressing her age?

Or maybe OP was wearing a paisley patterned cardigan, high waisted long brown skirt, sandals and huge underpants.....?

Got to love stereotypes

Right? It's so unseemly when a 45 year old woman dresses like she's 22. Even if she's in good shape, come on. It looks desperate. Any lady can look lovely in appropriate clothes!

Tell her that she looked so good and that you wanted to be just like your mom with super cool style and fashion sense?
cottoncandymango 17
She's just too shy to admit that she admires your style. :)

It's natural for women to be competitive with these kind of things, but your own mom?

We need the fashion police on this one. She's probably jealous because you wore it better. Haha.
