Today, I had dinner with my family in celebration of my 19th Birthday. I've been hinting that I need a new laptop for months now and I was sure my family had bought me one. I have got a pair of slipper socks. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, was my graduation party. My birthday was about a week ago so my parents combined the presents. I thought it would be something big so I hinted for a new TV. I got a snuggie. FML
Today, it's my birthday, and apparently my family forgot it. But one person didn't forget. My dog gave me a little present in my new shoes I bought for myself. FML
Today, I turned 18. My parents got me a pineapple and a pair of socks. I'm allergic to pineapple, and the socks are too small. FML
Today, I turned eighteen. Thinking I was going to get a big present from my parents on this special day, I eagerly unwrapped my present. They got me a bag of M and M's. Last year I got flannel bed sheets. FML
Today, the whole family came over to celebrate my 18th birthday. My grandfather bought me a giant mathematics book. Apparently, he didn't want my 16 year old sister to be "jealous", so he got her the new iPad. FML
Today, my parents bought my 11-year-old brother a MacBook for my birthday. FML
Thanks, iHate it
Today, it was my birthday. I have been heavily hinting that I want an iPhone. I opened my present from my parents and found an iPhone box. Ecstatic, I quickly opened it. Apparently, my parents thought it would be funny to wrap my present, a $10 iTunes gift card, in the box my Dad's iPhone came in. FML
Today, it's my birthday. My mom got me a gym membership and a bunch of clothes that are a few sizes too small. FML
Today, my parents gave me a sock and card for my eighteenth birthday. The card said, "Now that Dobby is free, get out." FML
Today, it's my birthday. My girlfriend gave me the present she'd bought for me. I said, joking, "I hope it's not a tie!" It was a tie. FML

Well slipper socks ARE awesome. Fact is you are nineteen, expecting expensive birthday presents from your parents and being a little brat when you don't get one is very immature. You're an adult, go buy one yourself.

Just to put things in perspective-- If you've got plenty of food to eat and clean water, you're better off than approximately half of the people that have walked/are walking this earth.

no no. NEVER let other people pick you out a computer. you have to go with them and pick it out, then let them buy it for you. dont trust their dicision. ever.. they'll probably just pick you out a crappy one and say "happy birthday, you didnt let us know which laptop you wanted so we just guessed hope you like it!"

I love slipper socks. I'm gonna ask for some for my birthday. OP, I'm 16 and I bought my own laptop with my own saved money. Get a job and shell out some cash. Something that expensive is not just going to appear as a gift. You're getting to the age (heck, you're PAST the age) that you need to think about working for the things you want. I'm sure your family still loves you (which is what really matters, right?).
