Today, I had a minor outpatient procedure that required sedation. I am not supposed to drive or even be alone for 24 hours. My husband wouldn't take the day off to go with me, and instead of coming home from work, he is at the bar with his coworkers. FML

A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, my husband injured his back badly. He's taken three Percocets, because according to him, he knows the dosage better than his doctor, and is demanding that I let him drive himself to work, with no pants on. FML
Today, my husband was supposed to have knee surgery but he wouldn't leave the house because he "got scared" no matter what I and even my mother-in-law tried to do. Now he can't have it for another six months and I took three weeks off work to help him that I can't cancel. FML
Today, I had 3 teeth pulled. Due to the anaesthesia, my mom came along to drive me home. Halfway through my surgery, she decided to leave and go shopping with her friend. She even left a note with the receptionist, saying that I needed to take on my own adult responsibilities. FML
Today, I worked from home and, by coincidence, it was the day that my partner was going away for the weekend with some friends. When one of them picked her up, I noticed that the other friend's husband was going on the trip. So other husbands are invited… but not me. FML
Today, I had the day off from work. I did all the chores hoping to free up time to spend with my husband tonight. When he came home, he looked around and decided that since there was no need for him to stick around and help clean, he'd head to the bar to watch the game with the guys. FML
Today, I finally got to come home after hours spent in a locked down ER after a car accident. My injuries were non life-threatening, but pretty damn painful. I asked my sister to pick up my pain meds from the pharmacy for me. She got drunk and "lost them", AKA gave them to her dirtbag boyfriend. FML
Today, my husband is miserable. He couldn't sleep. He tried to make me feel bad for sleeping through the night. I was medicated from a brain scan. His is work is horrible, and no one understands, etc. He's mad that I took a walk. Now, as I am frustrated and crying, he is laughing on the phone with his coworkers. FML
Today, since I'm still recovering from my surgery and can't drive, my daughter drove me to the doctor. When I was done and walked outside, she was nowhere to be seen. Then I got a text, saying, "Sorry, I forgot I have to be somewhere." The closest bus stop to our house is miles away. FML
Today, I'm in hospital after having surgery for a broken leg. I’m maxed out on Endone and still in pain. Work have said that I’m on the roster next week and I’ll be fired if I’m not there. My wife said that she is going to have some "me time" for a few days when I get home from my "holiday". FML
Today, I met a girl at the bar. Things were going really well and we ended up going back to her place. Problem? Her husband who normally works the graveyard shift was home sick. FML

He'll be interested in you AFTER the boob job is finished and they are ready to play with. That's why you had it done in the first place, right? I believe that part about the anesthesia making it impossible to drive, but that "being alone" business is your own annoying clinginess that drives your husband to drink.

That's not how alcohol problems develop, and I don't think it's clingy to want someone to keep you company after having surgery.

Um no? I had my wisdom teeth out over the summer and had to be sedated for it. In the outpatient rules it clearly states that when you've been sedated, you must be watched for at least 24hours. I'm pretty sure that's standard.

Books4Me, maybe they are a little more careful these days. Back when I had my wisdom teeth pulled (We had electric light and anesthesia, but not Facebook and ShamWows), there was no such advice given. In those days, they figured if anesthesia killed you, then you were weak and the human race would be stronger without your DNA in the gene pool. On the other hand, it sounds like a great pick-up line, "I can't be alone tonight. . . doctor's orders."

I agree that it was really douchey for your husband, but it's not necessarily grounds for divorce. If you're willing to divorce your spouse over just about anything, you'll probably be one of those people that have multiple marriages. I don't think anyone really wants that.

So much more for "in sickness and in health". I don't think anyone here is saying she should divorce over ONE incident. However, this guy is very self-centered, and I doubt this is an isolated incident. A marriage is about taking care of each other. If going to a bar is more important than the health and safety of one's spouse, that is a HUGE RED FLAG and I wouldn't doubt if this pattern of extreme disrespect continues from the husband until the wife finally says "divorce".
