Today, I got called to the guidance office, only to be told my boyfriend broke up with me. He wasn't sure how to break the news to me, so he made my guidance counselor do it for him. FML

Today, I told my boyfriend, "We need to talk." He said, "I know". So we met after school, and he said he was OK with me breaking up with him, that he wasn't that into me either. He said all that before I could tell him that my parents wanted to meet him. FML
Off the top of my head…
Today, my boyfriend called and said he was stopping by to talk. I didn't understand why he would stop by, so I asked if he was going to break up with me, he said no. Half an hour later, he knocked on my door to break up with me. FML

I'm really surprised/appalled your guidance counsellor agreed to that

I have to admit that's creative. Probably the lowest, most cowardly way to break up with someone, but creative nonetheless.

Make sure to show him the same respect and completely ignore him. Just let your eyes slide right on by him in public and don't say a word. What a scumbag, and the counselor is a real dirtbag by going along with it. We shouldn't be encouraging spineless losers.

I think the guidance counselor may just as well have been tricked into it. Anyone could have called in and said "she's having a rough day since her bf broke up with her.." and the guidance counselor could have assumed it was something she already knew, and not that he was the one telling her. It could have happened so many ways, but the end result is still your ex is a douchebag, and he saved you much wasted time spent with him by breaking up. Sorry for what you have to go through, OP, but you DEFINITELY deserve better!!!!

I think I'm more concerned that the guidance counselor actually went along with it. Aren't guidance counselors supposed to be helping students prepare for adult life? I know its been a while since I've been in school, but, geez!
