Today, I found out that my girlfriend of almost 6 years has put me in debt over $33,000. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, my fiancée "thought I should know" that she has a $125,000 student loan debt. FML
Today, I found out that my girlfriend has been paying her half of the rent by taking my ATM card and getting money from my account. FML
Bonus dilemma
Today, my girlfriend told me she got a hefty bonus at work and will pay off my credit card debt. I was gonna break up with her because I’d been working on resolving things with my ex-girlfriend. FML
Can't buy me love
Today, my girlfriend saw my secret money stash for emergencies and broke up with me, after calling me a greedy asshole and not telling her before. According to her, we could have taken a lot of trips around the country, because, "your money is mine, too." We dated for six months. FML
Today, after having loaned my girlfriend money after she claimed to be broke and unable to pay her rent and electricity bills, she went out, spent it all on a new purse and phone, and now refuses to pay me back. FML
Today, I found out that my parents are 28,000 dollars in debt and that my bank account has $27.17 in it. They took my money to help pay their debt. FML
Today, my girlfriend told me that she had to go to New Hampshire for a few days for her grandma's funeral. Later I found out she spent over $1,000 dollars (on our joint account) to take a vacation with the man she was cheating on me with. FML
Scammers gonna scam
Today, I found out that not only is my girlfriend already married, but she and her husband were planning some wacky scheme to steal all of my money, and run away to strike again in a new location, with new names. FML
Truth bomb
Today, after nearly 4 years together, my girlfriend told me that not only does she not love me anymore, she was lying about wanting to work things out because it would be "too hard" for her to go back to financing her own life. I'm nothing more than an extra wallet. FML
Cough up
Today, I learned I have over $10,000 in debt, despite never owning a credit card. Apparently, my ex-roommate had been replying to the credit card offers I was receiving in the mail. That also explains my missing driver's license a few months back. FML

i'm sorry but that is really your own damn fault. don't spend money you don't have and don't blame her cause you feel the need to keep buying her stuff

Some lessons are more expensive than others, but this one is worth every penny: If you let people spend your money (or spend the money you borrow)... they will. YDI because she couldn't have put you in debt without you allowing her to. You probably gave her your credit cards or something. But here's a clue for you: if the banks won't give her a credit card of her own, there's probably a reason. They're professionals at evaluating credit risks. You're obviously an amateur... but you're learning fast.

YDI for letting it get that bad without ever asking questions.

Put it in pespective... Paul McCartney was married to Heather Mills for only a few years and had to pay her $50 million when they split. You: $33000 in 6 years is about $16 per day for decent sex (we hope, for your sake) Paul: $50 million in 3 years is about $50,000 per day for occasional sex with a one legged woman. When you think your situation sucks, just think of Paul.

Macca was a fool for not getting a prenup. Marrying for love is for fools. He was getting infrequent sex with a one-legged woman who also uses a bedpan in bed because she doesn't want to drag herself to the bathroom.

The OP is talking about all the money he spent on her over the six years they have been together. That includes dinners, movies, concerts, flowers, jewelry, etc. All told, $5.5K/year is not impossible. that breaks down to $458/mo, $114/wk. The sad part of all this is that all this money spent is done for the chance of having sex. The sex is not guaranteed, unless she's really horny. Any implied promise of sex is subject to change. Unless this tool was guaranteed a lay every time, he's overspent just to go home with his dick in his hands. At this point you might as well marry her. $33K is a huge investment just to have her dump you after six years just because you never popped the question.

the sad part is, she is probably going to dump you soon.
