Today, I finally found the words to describe how I felt after two years of depression. I asked on Yahoo Answers what I should do next. The most 'helpful' answer told me to go on a picnic. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Life's a beach
Today, I finally beat depression by going for a walk on the beach. I couldn't contain myself and happily played in waist-deep water as I walked. I realized my keys for my car, mail, house, and work had fallen out of my pockets and into the ocean, never to be seen again. FML
Today, after several sleepless nights full of crying, I went to my university's free help center. After telling the psychologist my problems and asking what to do, he looked at me blankly and said, "Uh, it's not depression, I guess. You should go out more and, like, party some more." FML
Today, I went to the doctor. I told her I felt down all the time. She asked me a few questions and she told me I was depressed. She suggested to go home and find the sources of my depression. When I told my parents, they started laughing and said "Yeah, right." I think I found my source. FML
Make it easy on yourself
Today, I had depressive feelings, so I decided to write about it to find out what was bothering me, and let go of the negative thoughts. While doing so, I had a panic attack. FML
A brief ray of sunshine
Today, I had an extremely great day, to the point that I actually forgot for a moment that I suffer from depression. When I remembered, I became inexplicably sad, as usual. FML
Good listener
Today, in a deep depression, on my worst night, I reached out to a lifeline. Waited an hour for the counselor to arrive, listen for a few minutes, then tell me I should, "Get my mind off of it by planning my prom, sewing a dress or painting my nails." The application clearly shows I'm an adult man. FML
Wow, thanks, I'm cured!
Today, I got the best advice for my depression and anxiety from my parents and relatives: "Get it out of your head, there's no such thing. And get married!" FML
Down and out
Today, I diagnosed myself with a debilitating case of vicious circle: I am now too depressed to do the things that usually manage to pull me out of my depression. FML
Autopilot
Today, after 4 months of severe depression, I finally found an antidepressant that works. The downside? I no longer have any interest or gain pleasure in any of my hobbies. FML
Ignore the void
Today, I've finally got my mental health under control after decades of flailing. I also started showing signs of Serotonin Syndrome, which is caused by my meds and could result in seizure and death. So my choices are the swirling void of depression or possibly just the void. FML

Why would you ask random online strangers? Correct me if I'm wrong, but therapy seems much more logical...

Yahoo answers? Really? It's just a breeding ground for trolls.

I sympathise and commend you for trying to reach out for support but... yahoo answers and FML are probably two of the least supportive communities. Try to find a mental health based forum or something. Don't give up. But these websites are generally just hangouts for trolls. It's pretty sad actually.

last time I checked, Yahoo Answers wasn't the best place to go for help with your depression, hon. Sorry.

YDI quit wining and get some self confidence, life's what u make it out to be

I trust that you have lived a very sheltered life. The OP cannot just "get some self confidence," if depression was that easy, nobody would have it. No, clinical depression is a serious medical disorder which affects the chemicals in the brain (dopamine and serotonin, among others). It can take years of therapy to get it under control, and even then, it will never truly go away. Please, educate yourself before you post.

Perfect advice. Find something to enjoy rather than wallow in self pity
