Today, I donated to a charity website. My card was repeatedly refused by the website but when I went on my account, I was charged for each time I tried. I was scammed by a charity. FML
Collection
Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I found out that because I, like many others, don't read the terms and conditions, I accidentally donated £200 to a charity because of a non-refundable payment on a volunteering trip. It's my parents' money. FML
Today, I got stopped by people asking for donations for their charity services. Being who I am, I hate saying no to people, so I told them, "I don't have any money, only my card." Did you know they also accept payment by card? FML
Scammers gonna scam
Today, I found out that the $100,000 scholarship I "won" was a scam. I found it on a website. When I won, they asked for a "processing fee" that I begged my brother to let me borrow. The website has vanished into internet wasteland and I have no way of paying back the money. FML
Today, I found out that, after offering to fill out my student aid application for me, my mother sent all of my personal information to a scam site instead. FML
Scammed
Today, I found out that I'm just one of the millions who got scammed by what seemed to be a legit website. None of the negative reviews or bugs appeared until after I spent a fortune of someone else’s money on a server that will never arrive. FML
Make it make sense
Today, I had to contact my bank because their fraud department thought me buying gifts for 7 different people for Christmas was fraud. It wouldn't be a big deal, except they then wouldn't accept the original purchase and I had to go to the website to get the purchase to go through a second time. My bank is paranoid. FML
Bullet = Dodged
Today, while paying for dinner, my card declined and my date immediately left. The waitress then ran my card again successfully. FML
Can't buy me love
Today, I realized while paying bills on my phone I fat-fingered which credit card I was paying and sent 299 to a paid-off card instead of 200 to another one. Now I'm going to have overdraft fees too. FML
Scammers gonna scam
Today, I had a vulnerable day, which led me to being scammed 2400 dollars, worried about something that a simple Google search and five seconds of reading would've rectified. FML
Today, my girlfriend received a scam email about her great uncle dying and leaving her money. She not only believed it, but she also used my credit card details for it. FML

I hope they really use that money for charity.

I wouldn't be convinced they are a charity.

Yikes. I guess you're done donating for a while..

Not really. OP should contact the customer support of the charity if it's really legit. Otherwise contact the bank to cancel transactions and report the fraud too. Then use the money for some real charity.

You know you're American when you have to brag about giving to charity.

If you give to a hooker named Charity, then you know you're a Brit.

Probably a fake charity. Find out first. If they are fake, sue their ass!

Hopefully you didn't lose much.

Call you credit card company and tell them to cancel the charges. No big deal.

Agreed. Multiple donations, one after the other, is obviously a computer error. I doubt they will even question it. I also doubt it was the charity's fault. It happens. And I tend to doubt everything.

It probably isn't even a charity. Probably someone running using it as a front and planning a fancy vacation with your donation. I'm sorry OP. That really does suck. Talk to your bank? Maybe they can get the money back. And don't donate to charities that aren't well-known and proven legitimate.

It wasnt necessarily a scam. It could have been a computer error. Has happened to me using paypal. I trued ti buy something and Paypal gave me an error screen. I tried a few more times and ended up with 4 charges. I got it fixed with a callvto Paypal though.

That overused stock phrase is starting to make me actually lose faith in humanity.

Contact your bank or card company. They need to know.
