Today, I got stopped by people asking for donations for their charity services. Being who I am, I hate saying no to people, so I told them, "I don't have any money, only my card." Did you know they also accept payment by card? FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I donated to a charity website. My card was repeatedly refused by the website but when I went on my account, I was charged for each time I tried. I was scammed by a charity. FML
Broke boy
Today, the cashier asked if I wanted to donate $1 to help hungry children. I said, “Not today, thank you.” The man behind me loudly said, “Wow…” Now everyone thinks I hate children. I'm just that broke. FML
Dazed and confused
Today, I was paying for groceries when the cashier asked if I wanted cash back. I said yes and handed over my card. She stared at me and said, “You're using a library card.” I'd pulled the wrong card out of my wallet. FML
Today, I went to the self-checkout line at Walmart. When I tried to pay, the cash wouldn't go in, so I stood there trying to cram money into the thing that's supposed to take your money. What I didn't realize was that there was a sign up top that said: "No Cash. Cards Only." FML
Today, I got yelled at by a customer for refusing to give a found credit card to a woman it didn't belong to. FML
OK then…
Today, I’m hard of hearing and rely partly on lip-reading. At a grocery store, the cashier asked me something I didn’t quite catch, so I smiled and nodded. Apparently, she had asked if I wanted to donate to a charity, so I ended up donating a couple of bucks to a cause I still don’t know the name of. FML
You never know
Today, a woman came up to my cash register, where I was struggling with the cash, and asked if we took cash. FML
Today, I went to a restaurant with my friend, where my credit card got denied in front of everyone. The staff teased me and made me sit in the restaurant while my friend begged for money outside. FML
Nice try
Today, while working as a cashier, I was flirting with this cute girl. When I asked her if she had her store card she said, "No", paused, then said "Can I give you my number?" I said, "Sure, that would be awesome, do you want mine?" She said no. I didn't know I could just enter the card number. FML
Today, a customer gave me the dirtiest look ever and muttered, "Goody two-shoes prick" after I asked if he'd like to donate a few cents to charity. FML

you shouldnt be ashamed of saying no, no one is forcing you to pay them.

It's your money, don't be ashamed if you don't want to donate it.

should have said something about not wanting to use your card for "security issues"

I voted Fyl but then I thought ydi lol

Lol I got 3 dislikes

Can anyone tell me why my comments are actually getting disliked... ?

You're new to FML, aren't you?
laden_swallow09 35
I'll tell you why. Your comment is stupid, contributes nothing, and then you start crapping up the rest of the comment section with your inane observations. Take the downvotes like a big boy and don't ask about it.

#26 - This. If you're going to make a comment saying YDI or FYL, there needs to be something more than what could easily be expressed by a vote. "YDI for not having a backbone, OP." Sure, it's still simple, but at least it gives context.

No need to be that harsh, man. It's not like he has any idea how uptight the majority of this community is.
HarrisonX 25
Not really, I've been reading Fyl comments for about a year. I just don't comment.
TeasinDaNoobs 16
Now its just fun to downvote all of your comments?
bl865ood 17
I think you should stop commenting... #2
chef4money 12
I have gone onto comments where the majority were down voted in the beginning for no reason. I think it's fun for some people, like it gives them so sort of control. Don't take it personally, it happens a lot.
HarrisonX 25
Well thanks guys. I understand why my first two comments were downvoted but the third one was just unnecessary.
Roxas_hearts 27
The third was completely necessary. Asking why you deserved those down votes after posting a shitty comment.
HarrisonX 25
Lol yeah I meant my fourth one. And stop ******* down voting every single one of my comments. ******* *****
HarrisonX 25
Also, how the **** did my comment get downvoted for saying thanks. Honestly, you guys are ******* retarded. And since when did the rules say that I had my comments had to be constructive? The Fml community truly is stupid.
MrConcise 35
Now they have your personal info because you didn't pay with cash. It's only a matter of time before they're knocking at your door, asking for a kidney.

That's the truth right there. Also if you donate blood to the Red Cross and have O negative blood, they'll call you just about once a damn week. ******* vampires, man
cjfred 13
I don't have anywhere close to O negative, #17, and Red Cross still calls me every damn week. They always pressure me to donate *exactly* 56 days after the last one, which is the required minimum. Vampires is right.
mclovin22897 15
I have O positive blood and they literally call me every other day.
Ilmoran 20
If I ever donate plasma, I'll have to worry about being hounded for more. My AB+ blood type means my red blood cells are of limited use, but my plasma can be used by anyone.

I had no idea my comment would hold so true to reality. I guess my awful joke taught me something. How I love you, internet.

Lots of charities out-source their marketing, it means lots of generous people get harassed by people who only care about meeting targets. It's sad they are made to feel bad because they don't have money and time for it all and it really puts me off donating to the big charities.
dc120994 11
never give them your credit card. In my city a "charity" group was stealing people information and stole thousands of dollars in a couple days.

My old house phone got calls practically everyday, asking my mom to donate blood. I finally had enough and they caught me in a bad mood, I (a usually quiet, reserved little girl) told them to never call again. Not one more call after that day. Note: I know they were just doing their job and I didn't mean to yell at them, but it was ridiculous.
emporiumprincess 11
Just tell them you got a new tattoo- can't donate for another year ?... At our house we just don't answer and laugh when they try to leave a message for my mom (She has a *very* unique name)
MyDadLeftMeInKFC 21
"Just say no!"
brookenicolee29 27
It's your money, don't be ashamed if you don't want to donate it.
Cass_x 22
"Oops. I think I forgot it at home." And then you walk away from them. Fast.
tranced_ 45
That's cunning!
Cass_x 22
There's a difference between being nice, and letting people walk over you, though. (Not saying the OP is the latter, bc I obviously don't know them.) They could just be too nice, which really sucks for them :/
Dick_diamond 22
You don't have to explain yourself if you don't want to donate. As Nancy Reagan famously said, just say no..
Justabastard 10
Say no if you dont want to help them. they cant force you to donate nor they will think bad of you
91hayek 31
I hate that feeling as well OP. Just say "No thanks." or have some headphones in, or pretend to be on your phone.

A similar situation like that happened to me, only they were selling perfume. They got me right befoee I went into the grocery store and I told them I wouldn't have enough money for it after I was done shopping. The point is, don't ever feel pressured in a situation like that. You never know what they might do with your credit card information!
