Today, I answered a call at work from a very irate gentleman. After being shouted and sworn at profusely, I ended the call in a slightly less than civil manner. Turns out that guy is one of our company's biggest clients. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
We all hate cold callers
Today, while working at my call center, I took a phone call. The guy on the other line just yelled "FUCK YOU!" twice at the top of his lungs before hanging up on me. But of course, the phone agent is always at fault. FML
Trouble brewing
Today, I called a jerk of a client who has anger issues. As he started yelling and losing his temper, I began recording the call. The phone exclaimed : "This call is now being recorded." He hung up. FML
Today, my boss was angry at me because I had filed a complaint about him refusing to change our phone service to something more reliable. Later, a customer called him and said I had hung up on him. I got fired. I didn't hang up on the customer, the phone service just dropped the call. FML
Make up your mind
Today, my boss came around to my way of thinking. He called our customers a "bunch of assholes" and to kick them out if they gave me trouble. When a lady began yelling at me for "setting the damn prices too high" I told her to leave. My boss soon bitched me out for being unprofessional. FML
Today, at work, I spent half an hour on the phone with a customer. At the end of the conversation, as he was putting down the phone, I heard him say 'God, he was a miserable git'. I'm a 28 year old woman. FML
The buck stops here
Today, my boss threw me out of her office during a conference call for daring to correct her. The client fired the company because she subsequently got all the information on the call wrong, and plainly had no idea what was going on. From all the screaming, this is now all my fault. FML
Today, at work, a customer asked for my number. When I declined, he made a huge scene, shouting and scaring other customers. He tipped me seven cents. FML
Introverts unite!
Today, I had to call a customer. I usually try to avoid calling customers because I have a very prominent speech impediment. Well, it turns out the customer I called also has a speech impediment and thought I was mocking her. She hung up on me and filed a formal complaint with my company. FML
Today, at work, I took a call from an angry customer. After listening to his problem and fully explaining how we could fix it, he called me a stupid girl and said I need more training as I obviously know nothing about my job. I'm the company training coordinator. FML
Today, my boss sent me to a meeting with a client I've never met to do some damage control and renegotiate his contract. For two hours, he alternated between threatening to sue us, and making vulgar comments about raping me in his office. FML

Whenever you're at work, you should always be polite or make it a habit to not be rude.

Its sad to say that because he brings in the money he can get away with treating people like shit, so if your boss find out you can get fired... it sucks but that is the world we live in.

This customer service bs is getting out of control. You are human and shouldn't have to put up with that just because your corporation wants the business.

Here here. As a customer service guy myself, if I get harasses I ask them to stop, if they don't I tell them to call back once they have calmed down and hang up on them. At my old job had to do that face to face with people, that was fun... Security and the police are your best friends at that point.

Its not OP's fault so whats up with all the YDI's? Srsly, don't matter if it's a big client, just because they're the clients and you're the worker it doesn't give them the right to cuss and yess at you

if they swear at you I am pretty sure you can politely end the call... there is a point that it becomes verbal assault/ abuse. thus even if you can't press charges due to not knowing the person you can end the call or send them to a manager. customer service is ALL about dealing with assholes, and people will say ydi for losing your cool... so just be polite end the call or send them to a supervisor to deal with.
