Today, at work, my vindictive, cheating ex made me clean and inspect her new wedding ring. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, while at work, I helped my ex-husband pick out a ring for the girl he cheated on me with. FML
Today, I saw a picture of my ex giving her new boyfriend an extremely familiar ring. Upon zooming in, I realized that it was the engagement ring I gave her that she claimed to have had stolen from her home. FML
Today, I found out that my engagement ring was actually my husband's ex-fiancée's. FML
Insecure
Today, my husband went on a boys' night but I found his wedding ring on the nightstand so I confronted him when he got home. He was wearing his ring. What I had was a brass olive ring for plumbing so now I look like a jealous idiot. FML
Today, I found out my fiancée has been sleeping with the salesman I bought her engagement ring from. He knew. FML
Today, my wife figured out I gave her a dollar store ring for our anniversary. FML
Today, my ex-fiancée's new boyfriend phoned me to ask what her ring size is. FML
Doomed
Today, my fiancée handed me her engagement ring back and told me she felt like she's pressuring me into marriage, so to make me feel better about it we’re no longer engaged. On top of this, I found out she’s started talking to her ex again. FML
Not the one
Today, an ex-boyfriend of mine came to the jewelry store I work at to pick out an engagement ring for his girlfriend. The same guy who just a few months earlier ended our 8-year relationship because I wanted marriage and he didn't. FML
Foot in mouth
Today, I made fun of a friend at a dinner party after he forgot to put his engagement ring on. It turned out his fiancée actually ended the engagement last week, and everyone thinks I was being spiteful just because the girl is my ex. FML

"Oh, nice, so you've finally pooled the money from your many lovers to get one ring. Good thinking."

Just laugh at the ring and randomly shake your head as your cleaning and inspecting it.

YES!! Something to make her uneasy while watching OP work on it. Then to top it off, he should have handed it back with a smile. A smirk would work too, but she might've gotten paranoid and started some drama. Then again... if she were to accuse OP of compromising her ring, and a subsequent inspection by the boss proved her wrong, then OP would look professional and the ex would quickly become one of the most annoying and least favorite customers. Win-win.

I'm not OP, but during moderation, I saw an FML by the OP stating that his ex is not vindictive or a cheater, and OP still loves them, and that is why it hurt to clean the ring. Just thought some of you would like to know

Whatever puts you in this position is your fault for allowing it. If you work at a jeweler give her the boot/call the police get a trespass order. If you work with your ex you should have informed you boss of the situation and have them cater to their needs. Also restraining orders do some great magic to get rid of them or you reporting the violation to them being arrested to remove them from society.

Unless he's in a really high position at his job or she asked something that is not in his job description he has no cause to 'give her the boot', call the police or get a trespass order. If she purchased the ring at the jeweler he works at or another store that belongs to the same chain, going in to have her jewelry cleaned is something she has a right to do (like any other customer). While it's petty to do it in the precise store her ex works for, it's not illegal and OP would be overreacting by doing any of the things you're suggesting.

That's my worst fear working I. Jewelry, seeing my ex walk in and buying her ring at my store

You don't work on commission then? Cause I'd have no problem with it in that case and I'd make sure that the idiot who replaced me paid a fortune for an overpriced ring while I got away with not marrying her and making a small fortune to boot.

At least you're not the one marrying a vindictive, cheating bitch!

In moderation, the OP typed an FML stating that his wife is not vindictive or a cheater, and it hurt because he wanted to get back together, but that's about all I remember. Just thought some of ya would like to know. Maybe OP will say it him or herself in a follow up!

You know there is such thing as saying no right?

Made you? How? I don't understand how she can force you to do it. Even if you work in a jewellers I'm sure someone else could have done it, I doubt you were the only one on in a jewellers as that seems unlikely for security reasons. Need more info
