Today, my grandmother yet again asked where my grandfather is. She refuses to believe us when we tell her that he passed away 6 years ago. She always insists that he's out cheating on her and accuses us of lying to cover his arse. FML
Today, while at my aunt's funeral, my grandma who has terrible memory loss asked me whose funeral we were at. I had to explain to her that her daughter had died. FML
Today, during my uncle's funeral, my four year old loudly asked, "Where's all the dead people?" FML
Today, at our usual family gathering, Big Grandpa, the family patriarch, said with his loud super authoritative voice, "Hey! Where is granddaughter?" I responded, "Here, Grandpa!" He then disgruntledly yelled, "NO! I meant my PRETTY granddaughter!" FML
Today, at my grandparent's funeral, we were waiting for the pastor. He was fashionably late because he couldn't find his sunglasses and had gone to buy new ones. FML
Today, I went to a family funeral. Talking to my grandfather, trying to chitchat, he said, "You're gaining weight, aren't you?" FML
Today, after my 5-year-old finally got over his grandmother's death, we went to a store and saw a lady that looked exactly like her. She came up to us asking if we saw her grandson; I can't get my son to stop freaking out. FML
Today, my grandpa died. I called my grandma to make sure she was going to be fine. After talking over the phone for 30 minutes or so, I told her goodbye and said, out of habit, "Say hi to grandpa for me". FML
Today, I told my grandmother I was planning a trip to take my newborn son to meet his great-great-grandfather before it was too late. She had a guilty expression on her face. My great-grandfather died 4 months ago and my family forgot to tell me. FML
Today, at the end of my great grandmother's funeral, her daughter (my grandma) told me and my mother that she doesn’t have a reason to come back and visit anymore, and that everyone in her life is now gone. FML

Oh man that sucks. How were you able to handle having to answer him? I think I'd probably have been crying even harder with each time he asked

Oh... That made me tear up. OP, I'm truly sorry that this happened. My grandma is also suffering from dementia and quickly slipping into Alzheimer's territory, I know how it feels.

man usually I get a good laugh out of the FMLs on here but this one is like being punched in the gut and having your heart ripped out. I'm so sorry for you and your family.

I'm really sorry for your loss OP just tell your Grandfather Grandpa *or whatever you call him* Granny passed away... And I know it might be hard but we can get through this together. Hope that helped! You should say something like that. Or whatever you need to... So sorry for your loss it's truly heart breaking and sad.
