Today, after having multiple dreams where I have a daughter with my boyfriend, I'm now emotionally attached to a child who isn't real, and I get depressed when I can't be with her in real life. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Are you doing OK?
Today, my son is only two but I'm already plagued by the idea of him one day having a wife or girlfriend. I'm being kept awake at night by the betrayal of something that hasn't even happened. FML
Today, I picked my 12-year-old daughter up from school after her first sexual education lecture. She burst into tears on the way home explaining her fears of being pregnant with her boyfriend's child. As if that doesn't sound bad enough, I've met her boyfriend before. He is imaginary. FML
Are you lonesome tonight?
Today, I get as much time with the woman of my dreams as I do with my children: One day, every two weeks. She lives with me. They don't. FML
Today, my daughter came up to me crying. When I asked her what was wrong, she told me that she had a fight with her imaginary boyfriend. She's 16. I raised this child. FML
Life is life
Today, I spent a good hour playing a life simulation game so my character could go through the stages of pregnancy and labor, only to jealously cry for an hour because my character can successfully get pregnant and have a baby, and I can't. FML
Today, I realized my daughter has been in longer relationships than I have. FML
Today, I had a dream that I was 25, unemployed, living with my parents, and still completely in love with someone who no longer feels the same way about me. Oh wait... it wasn't a dream. FML
Shattered
Today, after dumping my fiancé and altering my life following my therapist's advice so I could be free and self-sufficient, I finally feel like I'm in control of my life! However, I just had a dream where I was married to my ex and had two beautiful babies, and I cried so hard I had to call out sick. What have I done? FML
Trading places
Today, I had to comfort my husband after he had a dream in which both his parents died. He was really upset. Both my parents are dead… in real life. FML
Today, the girl of my dreams, the one person I've met in my life that I could see myself spending the rest of it with, told me she loves me. She then specifically added "...but not in that way, so we could never be together." FML

Why don't you talk to your boyfriend about I don't know... Having a REAL child?..
Aspen_Grace33 27
A girl I work with dreamt about her children before she even knew she was pregnant! Maybe it's a sign of things to come! Cheer up and maybe congrats!!!

Um, I don't think it works like that, sorry.
Aspen_Grace33 27
Well you may not think it works like that, but in each of these dreams, she found out the sex of the child and when she woke up, she took a pregnancy test and found out she really was pregnant. Then later, when time came to find out the baby's sex, her dream had been right about that too.

Um yeah that's called coincidence. Or maybe pregnancy hormones. But dreams don't predict the future, sorry

I'm so glad you're the dream expert and know everything there is to know about the subject!! Thank you so much for enlightening me with your grand wisdom!!

#13...who knows what dreams do and don't do? Dreams are an enigma to humans, we don't know what will happen and we can't control what we dream. I've dreamt of things that actually happened later on in life, I've dreamt I talked to people who are dead (living in the dream). They were extremely realistic and it took me time to realize it wasn't real. Dreams are of the soul, of something greater. Something that humans will probably never comprehend. I also assume that the more in touch with your emotions you are, the more you dream. But I'll never know.

We don't know anything about time; just because we move linearly doesn't mean that that's the only way it works. In fact, there's stronger evidence that it doesn't work that way than that it does. Hence dreams -> future -> who knows.

I had a friend who had dreams about her daughter and then found out she was pregnant. This isn't uncommon and I don't believe in coincidence.

The thing is, dreams are our brains way to process things it picked up on during the day. This includes information that gets noticed unconsciously. It's possible her body is sending her signals of pregnancy such as an increase in certain hormones that she wouldn't consciously notice.

The thing is no one ever talks about the dreams that didn't happen. "So-and-so dreamt about a baby and then found out she was pregnant!" Failing to mention she'd been trying for a baby and therefore was all she was thinking about...but no one ever says "Had a dream a monster ripped my face off and then it happened!" Cos that shit doesn't go down. But we conveniently forget about those things so that we can fill our head with the coincidences and pass them off as magic.
TunaFireStarter 16
That's called confirmation bias and we all do it (subconsciously and not.) We like to take notice of things that confirm our beliefs and ideas and ignore the things that don't.

Oh geez can everyone chill the f out ? I don't think that 2 was literally saying OP would now have a baby, they were just being cheerful and sharing a related story. Lots of people have little superstitions and stuff that they don't probably won't affect reality but they hold onto them anyway because there's no harm done. Think lucky football jerseys, etc.

Sure, it's their prerogative to be a throwback to the Dark Ages – superstitious, ignorant, and unintelligible. Just don't expect anyone to actually respect their views.

Even when talking about dreams of monsters, a lot of times the dream will relate to something happening in your real life. Dreams where you're being chased can be tied into how we deal with problems when they pop up in our lives. If you're the type that fights the monster then maybe you face your problems head on, and if you run it could indicate that you have a tendency to avoid dealing with problems. It's not superstition just simple psychology.

The brain is still a mystery. Even the universe and time themselves are. We STILL lack a lot knowledge. Can you really explain this as a simple coincidence? In a universe so vast, with so many variables, how can you be certain that there is no correlation? Is that assumption really scientifc? My dreams have shown me the future deaths of family members. Date, hour, year, and cause of death included. I dreamt all the details of a plane crash, even the number of people who died and were injured. In my dreams I know when someone I care for is awake and suffering. Maybe you still have to experience one of these dreams but I don't really think they were coincidences.

This is seriously tripping me out because I just woke up from a dream this morning about having a baby girl and be totally and utterly unprepared for it. We had no diapers, bottles, nothing. It was like one of those "I didn't know I was pregnant" documentary specials.

Today I put a ball up my shirt and pretended to be pregnant and someone started kicking and punching it and I had actual tears coming down screaming, "I DIDNT WANT THIS ABORTION SOMONE IMPREGNATE ME" in a choked voice, I'm a teenage guy...

Of course people talk about the dreams that didn't happen. They're even cooler than the semi-prophetic ones. The things are minds imagine, with no basis in reality...
Soviet_American 29
I think your brain is trying to tell you something.

Maybe your dreams are predicting the future and she just doesn't exist yet?

At least it was a good dream though :)

Maybe you and your boyfriend should get to work then. ;)

Depending on the length of your relationship, tell him about it.. Or don't.
lil_ham1644 29
Great advice. Or not
lazyslumber 18
Why don't? What's the point of a relationship if you can't share your feelings?
fayeaurora 8
If they're dating for only one month I can imagine it would sound kinda creepy.
chrissapp 18
Keep sleeping and spend time with your daughter.
BlazeArmy 19
Unfortunately for OP, dreams don't work that way...
lionhead29 9
sometimes they do if you meditate and train your mind
doodlecloud 27
They kind of do. I've had similar experiences...a lot of my dreams continue into the next night's dreams so I've had dreams spanning long periods of time and you do end up emotionally invested in the dream world, so to speak. The problem is that sleeping that much neglects the real world which is always the world you have to come back to.
buster113 15
You may want to check if your pregnant.. You know those hormones
mysadlyfe 9
Guys, this could be a teenager...
Arathis 19
It could also not be... Your point?
nsxgurlie22 12
I was thinking the same thing... how about they focus on their own life first maybe?
siggy_mcsigx 22
Not every girl wants to focus on career...some love children and want to focus on family, OP may want to make other people the focus of her life. It's all fine as long as it's her choice. If she's not a lazy person a young mother can manage.
