Today, a very good friend of mine said he had a question to ask me. Jokingly, I threw my arms around his neck and said, "Oh yes, yes, a thousand times yes!" When I sat back down, I saw tears in his eyes, and he said, "You've made me the happiest man alive" as he pulled a small box out of his coat. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, my best friend, the man who I've been in love with for nine years, finally told me he loves me and wants to spend the rest of his life with me. Unfortunately, it was while he was using me to practice proposing to his girlfriend. FML
Today, my boyfriend got on one knee and started talking about how we met. Knowing what was coming, I started tearing up, absolutely sure he was going to propose. Just as I was about to say yes, he quickly stood up and yelled "HAH, JUST KIDDING". FML
It's the thought that counts…
Today, I finally had a man say, "I love you" to me in a sincere tone. It was a customer, who was high, over the phone. I said it back. FML
Today, I finally had the guts to tell my best friend that I like him more than just as a friend. I was about to tell him when he excitedly told me that he met the love of his life yesterday. FML
Today, my boyfriend told me he loved me. I asked why, and he said, "Because sometimes you look good, and you buy me stuff." FML
Today, after 8 years, I confessed one of my best friends I've been in love with him since we were kiddies. His answer was "Don't worry, I won't stop talking to you." FML
PSA: Don't be this guy
Today, I confessed my feelings to the love of my life. She laughed and said, “Nah, you’re like a brother to me, I can’t see you that way.” This after I drained my wallet for her birthday, brought her flowers and comforted her when her dog passed away, and fixed her car every time it broke down. FML
What's so funny?
Today, I said to my significant other, "I think I'm a pretty good catch." She started laughing so heavily that tears came out of her eyes. FML
Seize the day
Today, a guy that I've been friends with for almost 20 years, and for whom I have never shown even the slightest bit of romantic interest in, confessed his love for me. In front of everyone we know, at mine and my fiancé's engagement party. FML
It's the thought that counts, or something
Today, I gave a girl I like a $200 diamond necklace to express how much she means to me. She gave me a hug and told me she didn't want to lose me as a friend. Nor did she want to lose her new necklace. Today, I got a $200 hug. FML

Oh, ****, you dumbass. Do girls really think that non-gay guys want to be "platonic" friends?

Some straight guys do. I have a few female friends who I have no romantic interest in, and I am very much heterosexual.

OMG. Girl, please marry him. It's so rare to find a guy that appreciates you like that - and is genuine! Plus, you'll never have to lie to him about who you are, since you knew each other first as friends. It sounds like he really loves you, and you would be doing a harm to yourself and him by turning him down. You know they always say "marry your best friend"...DO IT! I really hope you didn't turn him down!

........you suggest she married someone she has no romantic or sexual feelings for? That's taking the saying to marry your best friend a little too literally, methinks.

"any kind of sexual passion burns out eventually?" From your previous comment about how it's all romantic that he feels that way, you sound very negative about relationships. Sexual passion may not be #1 on the list for most people but it's probably #2 or #3. I don't think anyone goes into a relationship thinking, "hmm. I'd really like to not be intimate, or fulfill any of my sexual desires with my lifelong partner, since it burns out anyway. Less of a disappointment that way". I may be marrying my best friend, but we a) dated first, b) live together and c) don't lack sexual passion and have been together for more than 6 months, so it's not one of those brand new things. As well, he knows the "real me" and we have a genuine connection. Who says you can't have it all? I don't think she should settle because he's there. Hardly seems fair on either of them. OP: Sorry to hear about that. Hope you guys stay friends!

If you were a friend to begin with then obviously the sexual sparks and the excitements of marriage won't be there. For that reason, in my humble opinion i think it's best you keep him as a friend. If he's a good friend then he'll understand your intentions.
