Today, a customer called the restaurant I work at to ask if our coupons were always valid, or if they expired on the expiration date printed on them. FML

Today, I noticed a customer looking for expired products in hopes of receiving a coupon from my store. I told them to let me know if they found anything. They promptly began following me around, telling me how to do my job, only to later file a complaint saying that I was harassing them. FML
Today, my boss showed me a two-page letter from a customer, complaining about me because I couldn't honor a coupon that expired in 2009. He agreed that I did the right thing by refusing it, but said it would be a black mark on my record anyway due to the complaint. FML
Today, a customer called me a "smart ass" because I helped him scan his coupon correctly. FML
Today, I was working drive thru and took a huge order. When the people pulled around to the window, they handed me a stack of coupons. None of the coupons were even related to what they ordered. They made me change their order to fit the coupons because they couldn't read. FML
Today, I was fired from my job over a coupon a coworker offered me for bonus reward points. Apparently, it wasn't one I was entitled to. I never even looked at the coupon and assumed it was fine since they offered it to me. FML
Today, at my cashier job, I got written up for accepting obviously photocopied coupons. Last week, I got written up for "inadequate customer service" because I refused to accept the same bogus coupons from the same customer. FML
Today, I had someone place two separate to-go orders, so that he could use two of his "25% off" coupons. He couldn't understand why it wasn't 50% off his total bill, no matter how many times I plainly explained it to him. FML
Today, a customer became irrationally angry and called me a "stupid bitch", all because she couldn't use the coupon clearly marked "30% off grocery items" on a prescription from our pharmacy. FML
Today, I learned that instead of discarding expired products at my work, we change the label to make them 'expire' later. FML
Today, while working as a cashier at McDonald's, a man came in telling me that he had not received his hamburger. I looked at his receipt and the date said 11/17/09. FML

Actually totally valid. Loads of places accept coupons after their expiration date.

I once had a customer ask if our Chicken Burger was vegan. I've also worked in Yellowstone NP and dealt with; what time do you turn the geysers off at night? Can my son/daughter push the button for Old Faithful? Are you sure the animals are not animatronic? My family and I drove around the park loop before taking the (free) tour, and we saw the same things on the tour I want my money back! etc. Hooray for stupid customers!

Okay, that's actually valid, there are a few restaurants as well as clothing stores and grocery stores that accept expired coups back where I'm from.

A lot of retail stores including bed bath and beyond ignore expiration dates. Grocery stores are starting to as well. I'd like to jump on the stupidity bandwagon, but if someone is use to dealing with these places, it doesn't hurt to ask to see who else has this policy since they aren't super well known.

Some like Bed Bath & Beyonds never expire even though they have a date listed on then. So it's not really that stupid of a question

Coupon expiration goes from state to state (whether or not they are able to expire) so if you work at a national chain that question is actually valid. If not, just another tally to the "reasons to lose faith in humanity" column
