Today, I met a nice girl and decided to ask her out. Later on she showed me a picture of her with her family, she was wearing red and everyone else black. I said jokingly "you look like the adopted child" only to find out that her had parents died and she was indeed adopted. FML
Today, I discovered that I'm adopted. How? After a great lunch, I asked my uncle how he'd made the salad dressing. He replied, "Haha! It's a secret family recipe, my dear!" I wouldn't have thought twice about it, were it not for my parents' shocked expressions, and the long, awkward silence. FML

It sucks to find out this way, I'm so sorry. But there are silver linings. You're entrance into this family didn't just happen, you weren't an accident to your parents, you were intentionally sought out and chosen to be part of their lives. That's pretty amazing. Also, when they embarrass you, you can honestly say "I'm adopted."
