Today, three days before their rent was due, my fiancé's friends moved out of our basement without saying a word to us. On their way out, they took an envelope from my locked desk with $800 in it that was for our wedding in six months. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, we received a wedding invitation from a couple who are renting an apartment from us. They haven't paid rent for several months. My father is listed as the "principal sponsor." FML
Today, I found out that my fiancé's parents are refusing to pay for a honeymoon, because they "didn't have one, so neither will we", meaning they won't pay for a single thing for our wedding. FML
Today, my boyfriend moved out and took all his things with him. He also took some things that didn't belong to him, namely my rent money. My landlord comes tomorrow. FML
Today, my newly ex-fiancé, the father of my 5-year-old child, moved out of state with no warning. I just spent my last $500 paying off his car, and the rent is due tomorrow. FML
Today, all of my roommates handed in their vacating notice unexpectedly. They are all moving to a new house together in two weeks, leaving me to be either homeless or forced to pay 4 times what I was paying in rent. FML
Not so subtle hint
Today, I come home from work to my bedroom to find all my husband’s stuff gone. There was a note in the dresser, with his wedding band, that read, “I hope you can take a hint. Sorry.” Not only was I dumped, and I can’t locate him anywhere, but I now have to cover his part of the mortgage which I can’t afford. FML
Today, I found my fiancé is cheating on me. Our wedding is in 26 days and everything is already paid for. FML
Surprise!
Today, my new wife and I got back from our honeymoon. Her parents had dropped our wedding gifts off at our apartment, but didn't lock the door. We came home to start off our new life together to a wrecked apartment and no gifts. FML
Today, I found out my best friend has been stealing hundreds of dollars from me and my fiancé. My wedding is tomorrow morning. Guess who my best man is. FML
Today, I came home to my empty apartment. My girlfriend had left a note on the floor that said: "Took my stuff and left. Took your stuff and pawned it." FML

Well, you know not to trust your fiancée's judgment in regards to her friends now. I'd try to see if you can do anything legally or via the justice system to recover the money or at least have them face charges.

From your description, I am not sure they are friends. And I am totally suggest a police/legal solution here.

Sounds like a low-key wedding. Also, ever heard of a bank?

Give them one chance to give back the money and pay the rent that’s due, otherwise sue then for the rent and contact the police about the theft. Problem solved. Unless they’re flat broke of course.

I wouldn't even give them a chance. I would just inform them I'm calling the Police due to their theft. If they were willing to take it and move out behind people's backs, why would they just give it back or admit to anything?

Police report. Not only did they steal from you, they didn't pay their rent. Small claims court for the rent though. Were they on a/your lease, or were they just handing you cash to live there? Get all documentation you can and again, go to the police.

Honestly, the time you spent writing this FML should have been spent filing a police report. They should be charged with grand larceny.

If they stole money report them to the police. Why keep that amount of money in the house anyway? A bank is safer.
