Today, our wedding venue canceled on us, leaving us 8 months to find another in peak foliage season. My parents contacted the local news over the ordeal, but they're using my name and picture to make me look like a whiny brat who didn’t get her way. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I had to cancel my wedding. On top of being upset about the break up, I was informed I owed a $900 cancellation fee for not using the venue. Single and broke. FML
Today, my wedding venue called and canceled our reservation because we were double booked with a spaghetti bingo night, which they felt was more important. FML
Thanks guys
Today, my parents couldn’t keep it civil long enough to get through my wedding without causing a massive scene. My wife was so upset, she got through the “I do’s” then left crying without waiting for the photos, so now we don’t have an official wedding album, just poor quality Facebook pictures. FML
Event canceled
Today, I had to cancel my $15,000 wedding and send a mass e-mail to 90 guests that there won’t be a wedding. My now-ex fiance got fired from his job. Normally this wouldn’t be an issue, if it wasn’t for the fact he got his colleague pregnant. FML
Today, I received yet another letter from a relative bitching me out for not involving my parents in my wedding. The parents who showed no interest in our relationship and then yelled at my fiancé and me when we announced it to them, calling us stupid, naive, heathens, and mentally ill. FML
Today, my family got mad at me for eloping and not inviting them to my wedding. Even though they admitted they wouldn't have gone anyway. FML
Monster madness
Today, my son and his girlfriend cancelled their wedding and eloped because they were sick of my ex-wife being a Monster-in-law. The last straw was when she called the dress shop and tried to cancel the wedding dress because it “made her look like a slut.” Now I missed seeing my son get married. FML
Copy and paste
Today, I found out my ex friend is having her wedding at the same resort and same venue as me, and I had it secured 9 months before her. Now she’s trying to also use my priest. FML
Today, my wedding is scheduled for next week. Today is also the day my whole family had an epic falling out, resulting in my mother disowning my brother. Apart from having them taking turns sobbing at me through the phone, they're also not coming to the wedding. I paid the hotel rooms in advance. FML
Today, I called my mom to make sure she could attend on the wedding day my fiancé and I had discussed. She started off with criticizing the venue we considered, then went on to criticize my fiancé, and then stated she would under no circumstances help out, but demanded to pick my wedding dress. FML

If they cancelled on you for no real reason, then they deserve some bad publicity.

That absolutely sucks! I hope everything works out for you! 8 months is a long time, don’t give up hope. :)

Always a bridesmaid--never a bridezilla.

They should just leaf you alone!

OP doesn't actually say "for no reason" so I expect there was one!

She doesn’t say there is a reason, so I don’t believe there to be one.

honestly, do you think she'd say it if there were a reason? She could just as easily think the reason isn't relevant.

Trying to find a new venue in 8months sucks most places require at least a year in advance wish you the best of luck op

Certainly someone offered to pay more than you for that day. Money is everything. Sorry OP. That place deserves bad publicity.

or maybe OP was being a whiny brat?

If you both agreed to the date you would use their facility and how much you are too pay them, then they are contractuall obligated to uphold their end of the agreement. Unless something happened to prevent them from letting you use their facility, (like it burnt down or flooded and won't be ready in time for you) you can sue them and have a judge enforce the contract.

You can't force a location owner to let you host even if you have a contract as the person replacing you for more money probably also has a contract. What you can do is force them to pay for the replacement venue even if it is much more expensive.

I suppose eight months seems like a long time, but depending on where and when you're getting married, it might not be. Unless they had a good reason for cancelling, the venue should look bad, not you. Hope you find another spectacular place soon. And best wishes for a happy marriage.

Invite rescinded It's that easy

You should really learn to grow up. Contracts are completely meaningless and are meant to be broken. How dare you expect someone to hold up their end of a deal, especially when you paid for it.
