Today, I was showing my 6-year-old son how easy and safe it is to ride a bike. I didn't notice a pebble, bust up my leg, and my son is now terrified of bicycles. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I was teaching my daughter how to ride a bike with no training wheels. After comforting her and assuring her that she'd be fine, I gave her a big push. She fell forward over the handlebars and scraped her chin on the front wheel. FML
Fair and balanced
Today, I discovered that yes, you CAN forget how to ride a bike. Too bad I discovered this in front of all my son's friends and their parents while at his birthday party. FML
I want to ride my bicycle
Today, I assembled my kid’s birthday bike without reading the instructions. I proudly presented it, only for him to sit on it and immediately realize the handlebars were on backwards. The training wheels were also uneven, so it leaned like a sinking ship. My kid said, “It’s OK Dad, it's not your fault,” which hurt more than if he’d laughed. FML
My little boy
Today, my 12 year-old son came home with two broken arms after finding an awesome place to ride his bike. He found a sweet jump and his handlebars broke. He's currently in slings and waiting for an appointment with a surgeon, the breaks were so bad, the hospital couldn't reset them. FML
Teaching moment
Today, I tried to show my little cousin how to ride a bike without training wheels. Not only did I crash into a bush, but the handlebars hit me in the nuts, and I ended up rolling around like a Labrador in shit in front of the neighbors. FML
Today, I took off the training wheels of my niece's bike. I tried to show her how to ride it, but she told me to get off because I needed a "fat girl's bike." FML
So, here's the thing…
Today, my 6 year-old son and his cousin were play boxing. For fun, I taught them some real moves. I guess my son is a natural but my nephew got hit so hard he fell over and broke his arm. Now I have to explain this to my wife and her sister. FML
BIKES
Today, I was riding my bike down a road I know is quite hazardous. Having almost been hit in the same spot the day before, I rode across the intersection very satisfied without having been injured. Until I crashed into the guy front of me and flipped over my handlebars. FML
Safety first
Today, my mother finally pressured me to wear my old helmet while riding my bike. Halfway through my ride, 3 spiders came crawling out of it and onto my face, causing me to lose control of the bike and crash head-first. FML
Today, I was showing my three year-old that going down the deck steps are perfectly safe. At the top, I tripped on my shoe and fell head first down every step. I now have five stitches and a three year old who won't go anywhere near the deck. FML

Not quite sure how a "pebble" caused this much damage.

This is why you must teach them when they're younger and fearless.

When we were teaching my 6 year old cousin he got angry and never wanted to ride again after each fall... he was forcing himself to fall.

You did that on purpose, didn't you?

The poor kid, and you OP. Reassure him that's abnormal and use many positive reinforcements!

Maybe you should've payed more attention to the road, instead of the bicycling itself

perhaps you should pay more attention to spelling, rather than to what he did.

Maybe you should pay more attention to the fact that I'm only 15 years old, and English isn't my native language..

At least you tried; I'm sure his fear of bicycles won't last long, most kids outgrow any fears like that relatively quickly. Good luck!

minor mistake, don't worry

Training wheels and a helmet 'til he's ready. Believe me, when his friends are all out riding their bikes, he'll want to join in on the fun.

My mom pushed me down a hill when I was little, I ended up flipping my bike and crashing. 10 years later I wish I knew how to ride a bike. Give your son time, I hope he comes around unlike I did. Good luck!

What the hell? Are you sure your mom wasn't trying to kill you? Cuz that sounds like she was trying to kill you.

You can still learn.
