Today, I was in an exam and was chewing the end of my pen, stuck on a question. My mouth filled up with ink. I wasn't allowed to leave, so I had to sit for another hour with a foul-tasting blue tongue and a half-working pen. FML

Today, I had to take an oral examination. I made it to the last part of the exam, then violently threw up in the middle of my answer. FML
Today, I was chewing my pen while I was paying attention to my teacher. I chewed a bit too hard, and something broke off, so I casually looked at my pen. It was unharmed. One of my front teeth had broken off. Everyone in class, including the teacher, had to see it before I could call my dentist. FML
Today, I got the hiccups during an exam. I wasn't allowed to leave to get a drink of water, so I had to sit there and take my test while hiccuping violently. The teacher ended up sending me to the hall and ripping up my test for "distracting the other students". FML
Today, I was working and eating. I was so tired that I bit into my pen and smeared my chocolate-filled pastry on my exercise book. FML
Today, I was sitting at the computer when this really annoying fly kept landing on the keyboard. After a while, I took the bottom of a pen and squished it. Twenty minutes later I absentmindedly started chewing at the bottom of the pen. FML
Today, I have an exam soon, and I felt like eating something that was able to fill my belly, only to get my right hand's fingers accidentally splashed by boiling water. After a while, the pain isn't that agonizing, but it's annoying. I'm right-handed and I need to study. I deserved it. FML
Today, I choked on my saliva during a medical interview. FML
Today, while giving speech in class, I choked on my own spit and had a coughing fit while everyone stared at me intently. When I finally regained my composure, my teacher told me my time was up and to sit down. I hadn't even got finished the first paragraph. FML
Today, after having stayed up all night studying, all the coffee I'd drank to keep me awake hit my gut with a vengeance. I ended up missing two exams because I was emptying my bowels into the toilet all morning. FML
Today, in an effort to avoid my school's strict no-gum policy as my teacher made a b-line to me, I swallowed it. By the time the teacher reached me, the gum was on my desk, as well as my breakfast, thanks to my overactive gag reflex. FML

YDI, perhaps not so much for chewing your pen but for obviously not bringing along EXTRA pens, which I believe they specifically advise you to do.

#1 - You should take other situations into consideration, like these ones: He could be nervous about the test he is taking and the question he is STUCK on, and start chewing on his pen, it could be a habit he developed as a baby, maybe it helps him think, I don't know. But more importantly, YOU don't know, which means you shouldn't post stupid comments like the one you did.

You scratch it out? For most tests (important ones, at least) you're not even allowed to write in pencil unless it's a drawing

I've been waiting all my life for this to happen to somebody. It's horrible when you go to borrow a pen and it has been obviously chomped. Pen chewing is so gross.

You know what I would hate? If someone complained to me that the pen I let them borrow was chewed, when they didn't bring their own damn pen to begin with. Beggars can't be choosers. If you don't want a chewed pen, bring your own. It's a common habit, and people are going to do it, and as long as it's THEIR pen they have every damn right to.

I have had this happen to me once before. Though thankfully I wasn't chewing hard on the pen. Now I make sure the pen is a sturdy one before I chew on it. ;)

Pen chewing is OK, as long as it is your own pen. I really hate it when I ask for a pen to borrow and I get a obviously half-eaten one.

If you're borrowing a pen, you can't be so selective. Bring your own pen if you're going to complain about the condition of it. As for the OP, YDI. I've seen pen chewers before, but none that chewed so hard they popped the pen in their mouth.
