RIP it up and start again
Today, it has been 8 months since I started a photography project in which I would take a picture of the same tree every day for a year. I just heard a noise outside. They cut the tree down. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I woke up and found that the tree in my front yard was gone. FML
Today, I was awakened by the sound of chain-saws. Moments later a tree branch came through my roof. FML
Today, I got home to find my truck smashed by a fallen old tree. I was going to have the tree removed next week. FML
Today, I finally went to Home Depot to buy a chainsaw to cut down the tree leaning dangerously over my garage. When I got home, I found the tree had fallen and taken out the roof while I was shopping. FML
Today, my boss sent me to remove a tree from a client's home. So I went and cut down the tree, only for my boss to show up an hour later, speechless. I was supposed to remove a sapling that had sprouted through the driveway tarmac, not the 100-year-old prizewinning Japanese cherry tree. FML
Today, a 100-foot maple tree fell on my house. I was inside. I was sleeping. FML
Today, I watched one of my neighbor's trees fall into the electrical lines outside my house. This was after he took a chainsaw to the tree. He refuses to cover the damages. FML
Today, a storm dropped a tree across my road. I would have moved it with my tractor, but there was a tree on that too. FML
Today, I woke up at 4AM to the sound of lightning hitting a tree in my backyard, then that tree proceeding to hit my house. Later, my neighbor's tree fell over, which hit our fence, and they're not even home. FML
Today, my husband finally got round to cutting down a tree limb in our front yard after months of me begging him. It fell on me. FML

That's so sad. You can keep doing the project and just show the stump. Turn it into some artsy go green anti-human thing.

This isnt an FML, just keep doing the project. If they dont take the stump out, some growth could return.

So maybe its just me, but YDI kinda... If someone else cut down the tree then the tree must not have been on your property, therefore an unreliable resource for something especially something as extensive as a year long art project. It really sucks that happened, I will agree there, but its kind of a responsibility thing. Either that or you are still a child living with mom and dad and they cut the tree down, which makes it worse and would have to say that would be FYL.

depending on how much time you have left you should drill a hole in the center of the stump and plant a little flower seed. continue to take photos everyday and as the flower grows you can get that into your project end it with a quote or something about how "out of the ash, life begins anew."
