Today, it has been 8 months since I started a photography project in which I would take a picture of the same tree every day for a year. I just heard a noise outside. They cut the tree down. FML

Today, I woke up and found that the tree in my front yard was gone. FML
Today, I was awakened by the sound of chain-saws. Moments later a tree branch came through my roof. FML
Today, I got home to find my truck smashed by a fallen old tree. I was going to have the tree removed next week. FML
Today, I finally went to Home Depot to buy a chainsaw to cut down the tree leaning dangerously over my garage. When I got home, I found the tree had fallen and taken out the roof while I was shopping. FML
Today, my boss sent me to remove a tree from a client's home. So I went and cut down the tree, only for my boss to show up an hour later, speechless. I was supposed to remove a sapling that had sprouted through the driveway tarmac, not the 100-year-old prizewinning Japanese cherry tree. FML
Today, a 100-foot maple tree fell on my house. I was inside. I was sleeping. FML
Today, I watched one of my neighbor's trees fall into the electrical lines outside my house. This was after he took a chainsaw to the tree. He refuses to cover the damages. FML
Today, a storm dropped a tree across my road. I would have moved it with my tractor, but there was a tree on that too. FML
Today, I woke up at 4AM to the sound of lightning hitting a tree in my backyard, then that tree proceeding to hit my house. Later, my neighbor's tree fell over, which hit our fence, and they're not even home. FML
Today, my husband finally got round to cutting down a tree limb in our front yard after months of me begging him. It fell on me. FML

Why couldn't they just leaf it alone? I guess you'll have to lumber along, doing the best you can. But don't worry, it'll be O(a)K. Really, you should have notified people about your project - a human wouldn't interfere like a Dogwood. Not to malign dogs, since their bark is usually worse than their bite. In any case, this could be the seed of change for your project that will make it suPlant any others at the top of the list. Perhaps this could lead to you branching off in a new direction? New ideas could sprout in your mind. So, in short, don't get stumped, don't be a weeping willow, don't get sappy, just grow into the new environment and let ideas take root.

Well, make it interesting by taking a picture of where the tree used to be and use it to show that "Everything can change in the blink of an eye". So make your project have a message to it.

I hope you got a picture of the work in progress. Then carry on! I find it hard to believe you will lose marks. It tells much more of a story than if the tree had stood for the full year. The stump may sprout but if not, other things will begin to grow where the tree was shading.
