Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I walked downstairs in a new outfit, after dieting for 3 months, and losing just over 20 pounds. My mom took one look at me and said "You'd better keep going." FML
Today, I told my mom I was finally going on a diet. She let me know how proud she is of me fighting temptation, by making my favorite cookies and dinner. FML
Today, I went to my parents' house. I recently lost about 30 lbs. My mom hugged me and said, "Aww, you're not my chubby baby girl anymore." She then said she wished I were still fat because she missed it. She's the reason I lost the weight; she used to tease and taunt me. Thanks Mom. FML
Today, I saw my parents for the first time in 11 weeks. They commented on how much weight I lost. I told how due to stress, I hadn't been able to eat anything for the past two weeks and I was basically unintentionally starving myself. They told me to keep it up. FML
Today, I told my mom that I think I’m anorexic and she told me she didn’t care. When I asked why, in disbelief she replied, "Honey, you are 5’3 and over 350 lbs, at this point you NEED to be anorexic." FML
Today, I told my mom that I'm bulimic and have been for a few years, and that I needed help. She responded by saying, "Well that's clearly not working for you. Why don't you try anorexia?" She then patted me on the head, smiled, and walked away. FML
Today, I complimented my mom with "Hey, I think you lost some weight." She replied with "Yeah, I think you found it." FML
Today, my mom accused me of having an eating disorder, and I didn't correct her. Truth is, I lost weight after I went off the pill a year ago. I'm too embarrassed to tell my mom that I haven't had anyone in a year. FML
Today, I proudly told my family I lost 15 pounds. My dad looked me up and down and said, "Well, you've got a looooong way to go." FML
Today, I finally broke down and told my mom that I'd relapsed with my eating disorder. She told me to quit whining and eat a burger, because she didn't want to pay for another therapy session. FML

Eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of all mental health disorders. I can’t believe your mother is so ignorant. I really hope you get the help you need.

It really, really irritates me when people act like that. They treat any kind of weight loss like nothing but a positive, no matter what the cause. You need to do what's best for you.

I wonder if you went from 110 lbs to 80, or from 350 to 320. If it's the latter, anorexia is cheaper than Weight Watchers.

It doesn't matter what their weight is. Having an eating disorder is serious at any weight. It's not something to joke about. People die from eating disorders.

You seem like a very serious person. I am not. This site is a safe space for jokes, so I don't need your mega-aggression. Yes, I know eating disorders are serious diseases, but you should know that comedians address difficult topics.

You are a brave man for that epic joke, and I respect you sir

There was nothing funny or clever about what you said or the way you said it, though.

Yes, anorexia being cheaper than Weight Watchers is funny. Unless you have a stick up your ass.

Message me if you need any support. I’ve been in recovery/been dealing with an eating disorder for 8 years. Maybe I can offer some help or guidance!

God, I really feel this on a much too personal level. I lost 30 lbs due to an eating disorder that nobody really knows about snd my grandma keeps saying how I need to keep it up. Please don't listen to her and try to seek recovery. Eating disorders have a much higher mortality rate than other mental disorders

if you didn't tell your mum what an eating disorder is then YDI I was anorexic and everyone said it's coz i don't enough, my family said just eat more but i have a high metabolism and a yr later the doctors made a referral to see a nutritionist they just gave me shakes. I'm normal weight now but still get the 'eat more' lecture but the weird thing is no doctors/nutritionists mentioned an eating disorder so I'm still not sure what it is exactly or if i had it
