Today, I'm a college student working at Dollar Tree. The signs hanging every 10 ft, plastered on every box, every wall, every corner, say "Everything's $1." Someone asked me how much something was, because there was no price tag. This happens multiple times a day. FML

Today, while working at a dollar store, I was clobbered by a woman because apparently, I was ripping her off by charging two dollars for two doughnuts. She didn't understand that she couldn't buy multiple items at once for one dollar. FML
Today, I work at a craft store. One of the things we sell are wooden numbers. If I had a dollar for every time a random kid took all the 6's and 7's and lined them up across the floor, forcing me to stop what I'm doing in order to go put them back, I'd probably have more than $67. It's an almost daily occurrence. FML
Today, I work at a general store and a customer came in trying to bargain a set price of an item. The item? A 50 cent candy bar. He wanted it for 34 cents. This is not the first time he's done this. FML
Today, at work, a guy tried to buy me for a dollar. I've only been there a week and it's the third time it's happened. FML
Today, my workplace was having a "prices are down" promotion. I had to wear a badge that said, "Down and staying down" all day, opening myself up to a lot of weirdos winking at me or saying, "Oh yeah, I bet you are". FML
Today, my boss is beginning to hate me. Why? Because people keep coming to my register with one or two dollars worth of stuff, then paying for it with hundred dollar bills, ignoring the sign saying not to do that. I’ve had to ask him to refill my till after every transaction. FML
Today, a lady came into my workplace to pay her $120 bill in one dollar bills. I kept losing count. FML
Today, my mom tried to get me to shoplift. From the dollar store. FML
Today, at my retail job, a woman came to my till with her purchases. After I scanned all her items, she handed me two small bags. One was filled with nickels and dimes. The other was filled with cents. Her total was $28.53. The coins amounted to $22.30. FML
Today, I was giving a tour on campus when one of my friends approached us and said, "Don't go here, the weed's too expensive." and walked away. Thinking he was coming back to say he's joking, he instead says, "Just kidding, it's really cheap." and walked off. I may or may not still have a job. FML

I think the confusion comes from places like the Dollar General which sounds like a dollar store but isn't. Plus people don't read signs.

You need to get some flashing neon lights. Sometimes 1,000 signs hanging everywhere is just not obvious enough.

I have a friend who, literally every time we go to our local Dollar Tree, asks me if I know how much something is... No matter how many times I explain it to him, he doesn't realize everything is a dollar...

Well to be fair, I have seen some things at dollar tree for 50 cents, but that's rare. Otherwise everything in the store is a buck.

I completely understand! I was an assistant manager at a Dollar Tree a couple years back. Some people just aren't very bright.

I used to work at a Dollar Tree, too. I heard the same question, day in and day out. Some people are so oblivious. So glad I got out of retail.

I've actually been to couple of "dollar stores" where it claims to have everything for a dollar but when you cash out, some items are 3-4 dollars. so it doesnt hurt to ask, but i can see how annoying that must be for you to keep getting asked the same question.
