Today, I went to the store, but after I'd selected my items, I saw that I'd forgotten my wallet. When I tried to explain to the cashier, he thought that I was trying to steal and called the cops. My roommate had to come to the store to save me. FML

Today, I realized I'd lost my wallet when paying for groceries. I had to put all the items back and leave the store feeling so embarrassed in front of everyone. FML
Today, I went to the grocery store, but once I'd filled my cart, I realized that I'd forgotten my wallet, and because I'm not the sort of animal who just dumps stuff in random aisles, I had to awkwardly put all my items back on their shelves. FML
Today, while at the mall, a lady dropped her credit card while in line to buy something. I came over, picked it up and gave it to her just for her to shove it in my hand and scream, "She's stealing my wallet! My wallet!" The police came. FML
Today, I went to the store to buy some groceries. Several hours later I realize that I can't find my wallet. After looking all over my house and then the store parking lot, I had my credit cards cancelled. On the drive home, I feel something under me. It was my wallet. FML
Today, I was at the store when I saw that a cart in the checkout line next to me was starting to roll away and the owner hadn't noticed. I tried to help by reaching out to stop the cart from moving, but when the owner saw me with the cart, she began to hit me for trying to steal her purse. FML
Today, I had gone to the store and bought a new wallet. 5 minutes later a security guard asks for my receipt. Turns out I had dropped my receipt. Some guy had picked it up and pretended I had stole his wallet. The guard confiscated my wallet because the guy had "his" receipt to prove it. FML
Today, I walked two miles to the store, filled my cart with groceries, and got to the cashier… only to find I had forgotten my wallet. I tried to explain but got the nastiest stank-eye from the cashier, the manager, and everyone in line behind me. I walked two miles home, hungry and embarrassed. FML
Today, at a self-checkout, I scanned all my items, bagged them, and left. Only when I got outside did I realize I had completely forgotten to pay. I then noticed that security was running to stop me, and I had to explain that I wasn’t a thief, just an idiot. FML
Today, I was shopping with my husband. At the self-checkout, one of the items I was buying for him as a gift didn’t register. As we were walking out, I get stopped and escorted to the loss prevention office, where I was accused of stealing. FML
Today, my aunt and I went shopping. When we got to the store, she said she forgot her wallet, and I told her I would buy some things for her. When we were at the checkout, I was a dollar short. She said, "Oh, I'll get it!" and pulled out her wallet. FML

What a dumb cashier. When I worked retail we'd have at LEAST 3 people a day who forgot their wallets at home or in the car, its a super common occurrence and none of them used it as an excuse to steal. The people you should be watching for theft are those that come in large groups and/or carry large bags with them.

If you did something such as holding a small item and reaching into your pocket it could be he thought you were smuggling the item out but other than that I see no reason why the cashier thought to do that quite overreactive if I do say so.

stealing is only after you cross the cash register line or the threshold of the door. until then they cant do anything unless they clain you are hiding merchandise on your person. i hope the cops explained that to them

The only logical explanation I can think of (and it's still a bit far fetched) is that the cashier gets some sort of bonus check for "preventing" theft. The store I work at will give you a small percentage of the recovered merchandise value which can be quite a bit of money.. However I doubt 15% of anything at a convenience store would amount to much. Either way, the cashier sounds ******* stupid. FYL, OP

Hopefully the cashier was fired or fined for wasting police time. No theft had occurred and if they were worried they should have just told you to leave the store. Seriously what an idiot.

I used to love it when they just told me to leave the store cause then I didn't have to go through the whole "fake paying for things" part. It's the worst thing for stores to do when they think you're stealing but it cuts the job in half for the theifs
