Gold digger

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I found an unfamiliar ring in my purse. Thinking it was fake, I gave it to a little girl. Thanks to my mother, I later found out that the ring was my grandmother's and it was made of gold and had a real ruby. My mother added that my grandmother trusted me to keep it in our family. FML
Today, my 8-year-old daughter came home from school, saying she had gotten engaged and was wearing a ring. It looked real. Later that night, I got a call saying that their son had given my daughter his grandma's engagement ring. My daughter actually said no to the engagement, but still took the ring, FML
Today, my 6-year-old son was being charming by smiling and batting his eyelashes at me. When I asked him, "What?" he replied, "When you die, can I have your hair?" FML
Today, my almost-mother-in-law demanded I give my engagement ring back because it was originally her great-grandmother's, and she has now decided she wants it to go to her youngest son’s fiancée instead. My fiancé agreed and told me he’d just buy me another. He doesn’t get why I’m so upset either. FML
Today, my grandkids went around my house claiming items to inherit. FML
Today, my 6 year-old son came up to me and asked "Dad, when you're dead, will you give me your wallet ?" FML
Today, in preparation for proposing to my girlfriend, I borrowed one of her rings so I could discreetly get her ring size. Not only have I now lost the ring, which turns out to be a keepsake from her dead grandmother, I still don't know her ring size. FML
Today, I realized my wedding ring was missing. Turns out, my son had taken it to give to a girl he likes in the second grade. FML
Today, I found out my boyfriend of five months gave away all the jewelry his late grandmother left him to his daughter from an old relationship. I asked in shock what he plans to give my daughter, and he replied, "Uh, you know she's not my kid, right?" FML
Today, my daughter apparently has had enough of my mother-in-law's favoritism and constant bashing of me by telling her, "Grandma, might I highly recommend death at this point?" She's 7. FML

sometimes say things like that to my mom but i'm old enough that she knows i'm not entirely serious.. you should give it to her when you die and it'll mean the world to her and she'll remember how she wanted it since she was a little girl

Hahaha that is just too funny. Don't take it too hard, little girls love shiny sparkly things.

Just be the cool grandmother and give it to her now. You will see the precious smile on her face and it will be worth it :)

If she's only 6, she probably doesn't even understand death, so I doubt she meant anything by it... other than she liked your ring. But yeah, I agree with #15... you're a grandma and using FML? That's awesome!

I bet the kid has innocently heard other rels staking out your jewelry!! Gramma can you make a noise like a frog? Why do you ask Britney? Cos momma says when you croak we're going to Disneyland! Yes to #9 - and doesn't it make fml boring for dedicated readers?

You better watch out so she doesn't kill just for the ring

Dude, don't be too down about it. My cousins and siblings and I say that all the time to my grandparents because they know we love them, and wouldn't say things like that to people we didn't love. Plus, it also means that we want reminders of them when they pass. It's no big deal, I actually think it's really funny. Especially when we all stake claim to her 15 cats, ahahaha. I love having a cat-woman for a grandma!

When I was 6, my grandma (who was in perfect health at the time and still is) opened up her jewlery box and asked me to pick out all the peices I wanted for after she passed away. I believe that was more traumatic than what your granddaughter did.
