First Dates
Today, I went on a date with a guy I've had a crush on for ages. Midway through the meal, he sighed and said, "I'll be honest, this is a horrible date. You got zero personality and I'm too lazy to do a window escape, so..." He then got up and walked out. FML

I'm sorry that your heart is crushed but you can't exactly fault the guy for being honest. He could've been so much nicer but he was being true to his feelings. Even if you thought he was meant for you, he clearly doesn't feel the same way about you. Cheer up and find someone else who loves you for who you are :)

At least you know him well now, but you shouldn't let him go until he pay the bill.

Wow. To crush or not to crush, that is the question. But, seriously though, at least you know, now, behind his good looks is zero manners & even less tact. It's never going to work out, anyway, and you didn't have to waste your time finding that out.

Usually I don't call guys a dick but this one was. It's just plain rude to not finish the meal and you can always be honest in a nice way. You are better off without him.

I disagree with all the people saying that you can't fault him. There's being honest and then there's being rude. Was it really necessary for him to say that he was too lazy to plan a window escape? And I don't know if it's just my interpretation but it sounds as if he stuck OP with the bill which is just plain rude. He could have at least paid his half and told her that he was not interested in pursuing that relationship any further. OP, consider yourself lucky. This guy sounds like an asshole.

I agree. I think the people who are making excuses for him is only being lenient because he's a guy. I hate to be That person but I can't help but feel If the Op had been a guy and the date was a girl, there would be endless comments of how much of a bitch the date was.

Exactly. Being honest would have been saying something about not wanting to continue dating or not seeing this going anywhere. Why he felt the need to say she had "zero personality" is beyond me. No one has "zero personality." Some people are just harder to get to know than others. Not everyone has to be super outgoing and flashy and exciting. It's a huge pet peeve of mine when people confuse honesty and ass-hattery, as if it's either a choice between saying everything on your mind in the nastiest way possible or flat out lying.

Gotta admit that's pretty awesome of him. I probably would have died laughing. I would have even probably given him a high 5.

How, exactly, is that awesome? If she'd been unspeakably cruel to him and he got his revenge in particularly clever way, I could see someone thinking it was "awesome." Her only "crime" was to not have the particular kind of personality he wanted her to have and not being entertaining enough. How, exactly does that justify humiliating her?
