Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, my 4-year-old son cut half of my hair when I was asleep because he thought I would look better that way. FML
Today, my son told me he needed a haircut. I was thrilled that he actually requested it, since he normally throws a fit over getting them. He described the cut he wants. It's a mullet. FML
Today, while my mother-in-law visited, I asked if she wouldn't mind watching my son for 10 minutes as I had run out of baby shampoo. I came back home to see she had shaved his head completely bald. That was his very first haircut. FML
Today, I went to pick up my daughter from my dad's house. He'd shaved her head bald. "For a laugh." FML
Today, my son gave me a bottle of shampoo for my birthday. I'm as bald as a coot. FML
Today, I asked my dad to give me a haircut. After 20 minutes of "fuck"s and "shit"s, he gave up and just shaved my head bald. I pull off the look so badly that two people I don't even know have already told me I look like a psychopath. FML
Today, I took my 5 year-old son to the barbershop. When the barber had finished with him, I told the barber, "While we're here, I might as well get a trim too." My son then exclaimed loudly inside a very full barbershop, "Dad! You don't need a haircut, you need hair!" FML
Today, I found out, after having my third and last child, that I'm balding. I'm only 23 and quite frankly It's very much noticeable. How did I find out? My four-year-old daughter pointed it out to me, saying, "Mommy, why you shed like the dog?" FML
Today, I had my hair done for the first time in 3 years. I loved it. My boyfriend told me I look like his ex. FML
Today, I got my long hair cut in a short pixie cut. When my five year old daughter saw me she laughed and proclaimed 'You look just like a man!'. That afternoon I got a concerned call from the school. My daughter has told everyone 'mummy has gone away, I now have two daddies!' FML

Welp, your ex left you no choice; the only means of retaliation is to send your son back scalped.

The scary part is how did your ex get ahold of your son
bahamit 18
They are separated and both parents of the same boy... common sense, they discussed, boy went with dad, boy came back bald...
Jinxsie 27
Someone needs to lay off the Meth and just stick to being a Hobo.

Shaved and bald are completely different hairstyles.

That is NOT ok!!! F your sons life for having an inconsiderate prat as a dad.

How do you know the ex is the dad it could be the mom
luther48 20
Statistics and common sense tells us this: 1. Our son: statistically means a kid from two heterosexual parents (99.9% in Australia per aifs.gov) 2. "Returns him": more times than not, the mother gets full custody of the child. Returns him makes it sound possessive as though OP has full custody (85% of kids living with one parent live with mom) 3. OP's person at the top of the post says woman, so common sense dictates she's the woman (99% per common sense) 84% chance OP fits into ALL of these. It's probably dad that shaved his head.

Now THAT is dedication

You can just look at the icon at the top left of the post to see if they are female or male.

That only tells you the sex of the OP. Not their ex.

I have to say, that was a really shitty thing for your ex to do. You don't just go out and completely change something on your kid without discussing it between each other. There should've been a compromise. Also, it should be talked over with your son too. He may be young, but they do have opinions, and he should have input when it comes to changes on his own body, kids deserve this respect too.

It is possible that the shaved head idea came from the kid! It was incredibly irresponsible for the ex to do that after possible options were discussed, but I can't discount the fact that maybe the kid suggested the shaved head, I know I wanted to once when I was young!
InfiniteSunshine 32
It is possible, but even if it did come from the kid, you notify the other parent before making a major change like that. Also, considering OP's title says "kids ain't pawns," I'm willing to bet it was more the dad's idea than the kid's. I mean, they're discussing hairstyles and then the child comes back with no hair to style, that's pretty clearly spite.

Entirely possible that the kid had the idea, but it should definitely be discussed with all three involved. Experience; I said I wanted to be bald like my dad when I was three, my dad was like okay cool!! And buzzed my head right then and there.. For like two years people thought I was a weird boy who liked to dress like a girl, or they clutched their hearts and thought I had cancer. I wore so many hats...
DoomedGemini 38
Yeah just because a kid might have an idea doesn't mean it's a good idea..

Oooh take care your child does not get teased or try to prepare him for teasing just for that bald head. I remember a kid in kindergarten once coming to school bald, I don't remember any teasing from anyone, but I do remember looking at him funny, I bet he was teased tho. Try getting him a nice hat, try a beret or cadet hat, in my opinion it'd be nicer than a baseballcap.
chinaski7628 32
I'm not sure a beret's the way to go to avoid being teased…

Luckily, with winter here, he just looks bundled up like everyone else. Though many schools have 'no hats inside' rules.
GhostFox 34
I'm pretty sure it's Summer in Australia this time of year. So winter hats will look odd- but if he's shaved, he needs a hat just to keep from getting a sun burned scalp.

Oh right! I forgot to check the location ?
mikbrooke 25
not quite summer yet! still spring, so the weather is still varying between cool and getting warmer.

I hate when my parents use their kids to get back at one another. Leave them out of out!

typical revenge shit, trying to make you mad but doesn't think about how this make the kid feel. or is this the new generation skin heads?

I wonder if you can file a report? Because as a 4 y.o., you do have opinions as to how you like your hair, etc. Isn't this sorta like child abuse? Either way, your ex is a psycho. Takes a real shitty & narcissistic 'parent' to drag your own kid into this to get revenge. He is the one to suffer now. Poor kid
