Today, I posted a picture of me without makeup on Facebook. A "friend" commented, "fuk me thts hideus!!" My dad replied, "Hideous, yes, just like your godawful spelling!" My mom yelled at my dad for agreeing with the guy, and they're still fighting. Meanwhile, my self-esteem is in the gutter. FML

Today, I posted a photo on Facebook showing a side-by-side view of me before and after I'd tried out my new makeup. My dad commented, "What is this, Gollum cosplaying an Orc?" My mum, brother, and over 20 "friends" liked his comment. FML
Today, my mom was on my Facebook and saw a chick leave a nasty comment on my status. My mom commented back something awful and really bitchy. My mom still fights my fights for me. I'm 20. FML
Today, I was looking at my friend's dad's Facebook pictures because he recently posted a status update. I saw him at a bar with some ugly hooker that he was feeling up in almost every picture. After about 10 minutes of ridiculing and laughing at this ugly woman, I realize it's my mom in a wig. FML
Today, my parents posted nasty comments about each other on Facebook. I think they might secretly be 12 year-olds. FML
Today, on Facebook, my sister posted a ton of photos of herself wearing a skimpy bikini, commenting that she looked hideous and fat. I can't stand attention-seeking fuckballs, so I called her on it. My mother then condemned me for "mocking" my sister, and grounded me for an entire month. FML
Today, I photoshopped a picture for my Facebook profile so my stomach would look a little flatter. I came back later, only to find someone had said, "What in God's name is this? Is your belly duck-facing?" and half a dozen other insults. FML
Today, one of the human turds that I stupidly added on Facebook posted how terrible her life is after her dad refused to arrange yet another holiday for her this year, so I bitched her out for being such a spoiled little brat. A few hours later, her boyfriend came over and beat the shit out of me. FML
Today, I told my parents I wanted to try modelling. I thought that since I have such a low self-esteem, that it might benefit me, and make me feel better about myself and how I look. The first thing out of my dad's mouth was, "What? Why? You're ugly." Thanks dad. FML
Today, I uploaded what I thought were beautiful selfies. One of my "friends" commented, "I've seen what your whole body looks like, so that's why you take only headshots. You're not fooling anybody, fatty." His comment got 18 likes. I took down the photos and spent the rest of my afternoon in tears. FML
Today, my dad finally added me on Facebook, When I looked through his photos, I quickly noticed he'd heavily photoshopped the photos I'm in to make me look prettier. FML

#42, it might not even be just a Facebook friend. I have many real life "friends". Friends that just use you, feel like they are better than you, exclude you, and talk about you behind your back, but still act like a friend of yours when you are with them. ****** hate it, and it makes it difficult to actually know who my friends are.

I don't think the dad was actually agreeing that Op looked hideous. He was just trying to make a point that the "friend's" spelling was atrocious. I think he was actually trying to stand up for his daughter and tell the friend that he's an idiot, although he could've maybe said it better.

I wouldn't worry about it OP, people react that way to no make up selfies because that's the only way they know how. In most cases make up makes people look more attractive so when you go the other way people don't know what to say. I'm sure it was intended as a joke.

Personally, I prefer to see people without. A lot of my friends I've actually seen without makeup and think they look a lot better without than with. They never listen to me when I say it looks nicer, especially they they colour in their eyebrows and make them really thick when their natural eyebrows are quite nice.

I actually agree with #11. And it's kind of insulting to hear that you look better without makeup when you genuinely enjoy wearing it - it's like drawing something you love and people saying they liked the blank canvas more. Even if the blank canvas was pretty, if someone puts effort into their creation, it's not fun to hear how inferior it is. I know the intent is usually good, it just doesn't always come off that way. "You look great both with AND without makeup" is a lot nicer. :)

The fact that you let something like Facebook dictate your self esteem or self worth is your problem, not your "friends." Sounds like you were looking for SOME type of attention in the first place.
