Enough is enough
Today, I was confiding in my grandma about how lonely I am and how everything in my life seems to be falling apart. While I was in mid-sentence, she rolled her eyes and made a show of removing her hearing aid. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I was listening to music while my grandma and mom were in the same room. I only had one headphone in. My mom, thinking I had both in, started telling my grandma how much of a "little bitch" I am. My grandma went on to say, "She's also a slut." FML
Today, during a family reunion, my 89 year-old grandma stood up and drunkenly made a speech about how ashamed I should be of myself for still being single. She then passed out at the table. Half my family got up to help her, the other half whispered in agreement. FML
Today, my grandmother gave me a long speech detailing how she was worried about my well-being, and told me that I could tell her anything. I tried to open up to her about my mental health issues, to which she responded, "Stop, I don't care, I'm not your therapist." I'm so confused. FML
Today, I walk into my grandma's house after having a fabulous lunch with a few friends. The first thing I hear is "Be a dear and help me change my colostomy bag." I lost that fabulous lunch. FML
Today, I found out my grandma wears dentures when I had to fish them out of a cooler. She lost them bobbing for beer at a local bar. FML
Today, I was at a restaurant with my grandma. A young, ripped gentleman suddenly walked through the door and my grandma looked at him and shouted, "Look! Eye candy!" as loud as she could. He heard it and was extremely embarrassed. To make it worse, my grandma is a widow, so she might have actually meant it. FML
Today, my grandma reduced me to a sobbing wreck in two short sentences, just to win a bet against my mum. FML
Today, I was at a family gathering and during a lull in the conversation I started to tell a joke to lighten the mood. Halfway through, I realized the joke was incredibly inappropriate. The room fell silent, and my grandma hasn’t looked at me the same since. FML
Today, my grandma is refusing to talk to me because I didn't answer her phone calls while we were at a parade. I was in it. FML
Today, I was on the phone with my senile grandma, when I told her I had to go because I had an appointment at the clinic. For some reason, she assumed I was talking about an abortion clinic, and started raging at me and calling me a murderer. FML

I was like that for a while. My internet friends helped, you'd be surprised how opening up to someone miles away can help. They're really easy to make, too!

I hate when people say that it's not that bad. You don't know anything about OP. Clearly whatever's wrong is enough for OP to need someone to talk to. That's enough.

Maybe #1 was trying to somehow day that for the better of OP. People say it to me to cheer me up sometimes. Before getting onto Beeferjay, maybe think of all the different ways he could've meant his comment.

if I wanted to be a dick, I would be a dick. its the internet, I dont give 2 ***** about what 99.99 % of you say anyway... im just sayin but OP, you'll be okay. read some fmls and keep your head up, it could be a lot worse :-)

I know you aren't trying to be a dick, but that really doesn't work most of the time. It more of ignores their problems and makes them feel like you are saying they don't have reason to be unhappy.

Don't worry about her, you go out and be strong. You can change your own life regardless of what her or anyone thinks. Good luck :)

Totally agree with you. I met some of my best friends online and I always feel I can talk about a bad day with them anytime and they are always there to hear you out.

Don't let it get to you OP, elderly can be grouchy. Talk to friends irl or online, or talk to someone else you trust!

I've gone through some hard times in my life, too. I find it's best to talk to a therapist about it. They are trained and educated to offer constructive advice, where as family and friends may become frustrated and not know what to say. They may be dealing with issues of their own and just don't have the energy to think about yours, too. Best of luck.
